Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Side facing Velux Window

I am trying to establish if planning is required to install one side facing velux window in converted attic. Slightly complicated as the house is on a corner site in a housing estate so there is a road along the front and side of the house. I've checked the Galway council website but couldn't find anything.

Also trying to figure out what would need to be done to get a separate electricity meter if I was to partition off a section of the house or if this is even allowed. Any direction appreciated.

Velux. You could lodge a Section 5 asking if it’s exempt. Typically they are to the rear so the side is not exempt generally but there maybe some grey area as it’s behind the front building line.

Sectioning off portion of house. Possible planning required as it sounds like you are trying to create a separate unit.
