Haha. This is ridiculous. The Sunday Times Post is incredibly inaccurate.

FG are doing absolutely fine. I'm actually out knocking on doors and the message i am getting couldn't be clearer. People are happy with the progress of FG. Thank you for the equality referendum, thank you for the abortion referendum, thank you for getting a great brexit deal. Thank you for the increase in houses being built - good work and #lookingforward to more!

People don't want those corrupt gombeens back in power.

I'm #lookingforward to 5 more years of Leo, Simon C, Simon H, Paschal and Charlie. A winning team who have turned this country around!

    When's your next comedy gig?

Today's poll is a complete and utter outlier. This does not line up with what we in FG are hearing out on the canvas trail. It's early doors in this campaign, and FF along with Greens have not been called out on. It's all to play for.

    Nothing funny about it.

The only poll that matters is the one on February 8th. I can see FG returning 60+ TDs conservatively.

What people are seeing is 12% DIFFERENCE and thinking that FG are DOWN 12%, when, in fact, they’re down 7%. It’s what’s to be expected about the sitting government at this stage in the election.

We all know that the parties have teams working on social media to try and influence things but sometimes I wonder if there isnt a double agent type strategy taking place too where at face value a poster/campaign would seem to be supporting one party but in reality it just baits people into attacking that party thus achieving their true objective. It wouldnt be impossible to imagine but probably impossible to prove.

Alternatively maybe some of the party lifers/social media teams are just that bad at their job that it happens by mistake?

Uneducated? Our taoiseach is a medical doctor? I'm sure it's more than your degree from the "school of hard knocks" or is the "University of life" your alma mater? Haha.

Good man, you've obviously taken the feedback from this thread that FG are seen as elitist on board. Sometimes I wonder if you're a shinner attempting to destroy FG.

Fine Gael were always going into this election with everything to lose. There has been a restlessness in the country for quite a while and they were always going to have to come from behind, so this poll is hardly surprising in the sense of FG weakness, especially given the timing.

The most surprising aspect is the failure of any party other than FF and the Greens to capitalise. That is an indictment of their failure to offer anything to the Irish public other than whinging and complaining.

SF, PBP and other Loony Lefts just dont have the ability to convince people to vote for them in any numbers. Every Socialist party in the world are in favour of taxes on property ( commercial and private) but not ouro so called Socialists.
Do you think Slab and the boys in Armagh Tyrone etc would allow that?
Rich Boy and Posh Boy will trot ( no pun intended) out the usual Arts student version of Socialism but are out of touch with the decent working class who get out of bed every morning to make a living

All I can do is relay what I'm hearing with my own ears on the doorstep Albert!

When people look at the Mr. Burns lookalike in FF and all his crony spokespeople they don't see a credible opposition. I'll admit the RIC commemoration wasn't handled as well as it could have been (people just got the wrong message and aren't ready for it yet) but on the important issues, people realise that FG are the right choice to lead this country and are genuinely #LookingForward to a bright future.

Fair play, doubling down on the delusional bs.

I just told you what we're hearing.

People are saying "there's four number ones for FG in this house paddy!"

"you could do better in some areas but the achievements of the party have been seriously impressive. Thank you for getting the budget back to surplus. We're not going to hand the reins to FF to wreck the place. We're #lookingforward to more steady governance "

Most people are pleased with our running of the country, despite what the media are portraying.

    - Everyone seems to be pleased with how good the economy is, and how easy it is to get jobs (good paying ones at that).

    - We understand how bad health is, but most people seem to realize that FF set up the HSE.

    - The housing stock is increasing by 10K+ every year, but we running at capacity. We simply don't have the workers to build anymore. Partys saying that they can/will build more than us are lying to your face.

It's important to note that FG are down to 20 per cent by this poll what the difference is, is irrelevant although if it 7 rather than 12 gives you comfort so be it.

So what you are hearing is after 9 odd years of governance the gross failings in health and housing is not the governments fault?

    Look a squirrel.

That's it be optimistic, can't hurt. Like it's not as if party supporters would downplay any negative comments from the canvas.

Delusional. Most? Not even a plurality of people I'm afraid. I've bookmarked this post and will come back to it once the first exit polls are announced on polling day. FG are on track for a shellacking.

The only people satisfied with the governance of country are those who are home and hosed. Usually retirees and older folks cruising towards their pension. Maybe these are the only people answering the door to you.

Can it be manipulated,? I bet it can. As valid as any poll on the Journal. lol

    Such FG arrogance!

It shouldnt have been handled at all.
In the centenary of the worst year of the War of Independence FG start off with a commemoration of the RIC. Well done to the PR boys in Mount St.
When are they having the ceremony for Pierrepoint and the lads?

Well, I'm 25 and I think Ireland is being run really well. Yea housing and need improvement, but they will be sorted.

Those zero hour contracts are really working a treat

You think that all you want. But you're in the realm of belief rather than reality. Housing is nowhere near being sorted. You're of the exact age that is typically getting absolutely rode up the pipe in the rental market and you'll likely be renting for many years to come.

All signs point towards a collapse in the FG vote.

Dont forget those on the average industrial wage who can't afford the average priced house. But hey we have full employment!

I was up until around a year ago. Now I'm an active member of the main FG organization.

    I don't rent, so I'm G.

    I don't agree with you.

But fair play to you for joining and getting involved and fair play for admitting it.

Ah you're alright jack. No wonder you're a FG acolyte.

You're in a very small minority of you're age cohort, and you'd do well to remember that on the doors.

Edit: sorry I had to laugh at your response. Housing isn't a problem because it's not a problem for me. You'll go far in FG. The party however is in deep sh*t.
