It was a foul. Won't matter, ultimately.

Nice to see that Utd players can still verbally & physically abuse the referee with impunity.

It's good to see that some things never change.

That is a joke never a foul on the keeper

That’s never ever a foul. Not sure why goalkeepers get their own rules. If that’s up against any other defender it’s obviously not a foul so goal should stand.

That is a joke by VAR.

    Joke call

That was a dreadful decision by the ref, correctly given by VAR

    Never a foul.

De Gea has gone really sh*t - should have gone to Madrid when he had the chance, rotting away at United.

If that is a foul on the keeper then it was a foul at Old Trafford

Van Dijk makes contact with De Gea's shoulder before catching the ball, knocking him back a bit. I think it's just about the right call.

    LiVARpool apparently

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,356 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

VAR - " VVD made no attempt to play the ball."

That is a farcical reason to give.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,541 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Ah he catches his arm. Could have more grievance with the advantage rule

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,648 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

Soft, but I'd probably just about call it a foul. 100% a yellow card for De Gea though, could have been a few more yellows handed out there.

If anything they should have less protection seeing as they can use their hands.

Every one of those Man U players in the refs face should have been booked.

  • Registered Users Posts: 722 ✭✭✭caddy16

It was 100% a foul, wont make a difference though.

Good decision by VAR, jumped into the keeper, didn't even go for ball.

Replay shows he was clearly trying to head the ball.
    Poor decision by VAR

I can imagine a referee feeling threatened/frightened when faced by this:

    902a0308acf63df49d7d58200617ade2.jpg

But the absolute state of De Gea there. Looked like a greased up malnourished hipster complaining about a barista putting dairy milk instead of soya milk in his skinny latte.

what's the story with the crowd noise turned down on Sky? Makes it seem like the atmosphere is flat.

Switch over to NBCSN and it's much much better. I've noticed Sky do this alot with their coverage and then when a goal goes in, they will turn the volume up for a few minutes to say "oh that got the crowd going"

It's a contact sport. He went for the ball, that's what counts, especially seeing as he is not allowed to use his hands while De Gea is. You'd be disappointed if he managed to head it and the keeper didn't touch it. However, there was no foul, VVD was watching and going for the ball, not the man so that was a poor decision by VAR.

There was a long time when crouch couldn't challenge a keeper at all because a free was just given . It's ridiculous, has the advantage of height and hes penalised for it.

How is that not a free on Gomez? Or a yellow card to James(?)

Sorry, marching him backwards while making contact. Is that better.

Players shouldnt be raising a voice to a ref , never mind a group of them screaming in his face.

Sooner the better everyone bar the captain is barred from talking to the ref.

    Great ball, but just offside

You can go for the ball and still foul though. I think it should have stood cos advantage was played and Lindelof messed it up

How many times a game do 2 players jump for a ball and make contact with each other ? Why is it suddenly an issue because one is a keeper?

Sky always adjust the volume of the crowds. I think they’re trying to block out bad language

It's not suddenly an issue. It's ALWAYS been like that. It would have been a bigger shock if the goal stood.

United getting away with niggly fouls or playing advantage when their is none

Because a keeper is catching the ball.

Ok, forget suddenly. Why is it a foul because one of the players happens to be a keeper?
