Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Because a keeper is catching the ball.

Well then just outlaw going near the keeper at all so. Has to be given free space to catch the ball.

Ok, forget suddenly. Why is it a foul because one of the players happens to be a keeper?

Don't know, I'm not the law maker, but it's always been that way. VAR is not wrong here. They're given literally every week 9 times out of 10. People can't be shocked that this one was given.

Sorry, marching him backwards while making contact. Is that better.

Players shouldnt be raising a voice to a ref , never mind a group of them screaming in his face.

Sooner the better everyone bar the captain is barred from talking to the ref.

True, but it was insinuated to be something associated with United when Liverpool's manager has done it.
Jürgen Klopp has said that he was “lucky” to escape punishment for his altercation with a fourth official this week and that managers would continue to overstep the mark because of the unique pressures of their job.

The Liverpool manager accepted that he and his colleagues have a duty to act with greater responsibility on the touchline as the behaviour of top-flight coaches comes under the microscope again. Klopp apologised to Neil Swarbrick during Liverpool’s stalemate with Chelsea for screaming “nobody can beat us” in the fourth official’s face after Simon Mignolet’s penalty save.

If 2 players are going for the ball and player A prevents player B from getting the ball by initiating contact then that's generally a foul, no?

Win the ball and it is a free kick now

Good save with the boot there from De Gea although it was hit at him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Mane should have finished the game off there.

Think they got the memo if they hammer them it could lead to Ole getting sacked. Nobody wants that

Utd will feel like they’re winning to be just a single goal down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,916 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Can see Ole saying they won that half.

Absolutely incredible scoreline from a United perspective.

    Great game of football.

    LiVarpool striking again.

Gini Wijnaldum is the most underrated player in the league. Sublime stuff.

    Andy Robertson having a mare.

DDG went in tougher on the ref than he did for the challenge from the cross.

Weak string of p1ss. He has form for not being able to collect.

What are you trying to prove here?

United players were wrong today. Klopp has also changed his behaviour.

Everything is poor about this season, good liverpool side that seemed to have been elevated with every top club going through a rebuild.

Man City are in no way in a rebuild, not at all, hell Spurs aren't in a rebuild they have just capitulated.

Multiple times during a match 2 outfield players will jump for a ball and hit in to each other while one gets the ball and it's not a foul.

Keane and Neville reckon it's not a foul.

You can go for the ball and still foul though. I think it should have stood cos advantage was played and Lindelof messed it up

Yeah seems a precedent was set. If it was am offside for example that would have stood

Evra trolling Keane and Souness straight to their faces saying that was a foul.

The weird thing is how the onfield decision was no foul. That means VAR was certain that it was clear and obvious to overrule it.

Had the opposite happened and the ref gave it I could see it not being overturned, but the way we've seen VAR implemented has in general been towards the onfield decision.

If it prevents a player from playing the ball then it's a foul.
He was prevented from catching it. it's a foul.
VAR themselves say they were surprised it wasn't called straightaway.

I think it’s a foul tbh, and not just because I’m a United fan.

van Dijk jumps with the primary intention being to prevent de Gea from collecting the ball cleanly. A point illustrated by the fact that he’s on the way back down to the ground by the time the ball actually reaches him. I don’t see what the hoo ha is about.

Other than that, Periera actually reaches that ball played across a goal and should tap it in. He just fails to hit it.

    Liverpool well on top.

    Salah should have buried that

United playing like a League One outfit on a day out to Anfield in the cup.

Should be 4 or 5 here. How it's only 1-0 is baffling

I've only ever seen that penalised once, and it was Mignolet. It's never enforced.

Rashford has a broken back well two stress fractures in it.

While it remains 1-0, Utd have a chance.

Liverpool need to convert the dominance into a goal

He was making shapes with his hands there a few minutes ago. Looked like squares to me.

Liverpool could have had 5 or 6.

All set up for a United equaliser.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,645 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

We'll have nobody to blame but Mane, Salah, Robertson, VAR, De Gea, and fear itself.

After all that Liverpool dominance yielding nothing, Utd are climbing back into this game.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,645 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

This United side aren't going to be winning any fair play awards.

More fouls on Salah, Shaw all over him as he tries to control the ball

Don’t like a shape change here, has all the hallmarks of a sucker punch equaliser before the end...
