Anyone watching this now, basically she's sold up her house in Ireland and has moved to a derelict hotel in Portugal she is fixing up.

    Second chance for their marriage...

Nothing fixes the cracks in a marriage like piling the stress of move house.. and country to fix up an abandoned hotel.

Ya would love to do something mad like that myself.

    It's very slow moving

She's doing plenty of griping about Ireland considering she appears to have made a plenty good living here..

Ffs, I was going to joke that maybe Diarmuid Gavin would do her flower bed but looking at next weeks preview he actually does make an appearance...
Landscape gardener Diarmuid Gavin arrives, while Eva returns home to finalise the sale of the house and meets up with a local interior decorator.

been a blow in myself you tend to go through that phase, amazing how many people go through that. some never get over it, and remain ungrateful.

Wonder what market she plans to target, will it be Irish and UK customers or from everywhere?

Another renovation program showing everything but a renovation .. two slow a pace and I am bored.

Definitely not worth prime time Sunday night viewing spot, bit all over the place, wish they would just get on with story of renovation.

45 minutes in and not a single actual construction task seems to have been done.

So do I. Yet she's been given a vehicle to showcase her 'talents' , several in fact, on RTE. One wonders why? It's certainly not her charisma.

What was the point in tackling the garden when the actual hotel itself is not near ready?

I'm beginning to feel sorry for her husband.

She's a pain in the hole.

I've never heard anyone scratching their nails off a blackboard but I'd imagine it'd be more enjoyable than this.

The surveyor was not up to much, did I hear no foundations?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,485 ✭✭✭harr

Do people who have money not do any Financial plans or outlays on projects like this or do they not do property surveys?
That’s a money pit and always will be ... one or two lads on site putting up an odd block or two.
Now discussing the interiors in a derelict building.
I would say she is a hard one to live with ..

Money is tight so they fly in Diarmuid Gavin to look after the garden, ok, that makes sense

Her husband must have patience of a saint or maybe has cotton wool in his ears 24/7.

It's just advertising for Diamuid. I'd imagine that's how this works. All of these shows are just ads, punctuated with more ads.
I'd be shocked if he was getting a fee, then again it's RTE.

Correction: the Irish tax payer flys Diarmuid Gavin out.

I'm beginning to feel sorry for her husband.

I feel sorry for all belonging to her,and I have no idea who the hell she's supposed to be
apart from a gigantic pain in the hole.

Wonder how much RTE paid her for this self publicity...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,827 ✭✭✭madmaggie

Absolutely crazy that they didn't get the place checked out before buying. That said, I know of at least two people who bought properties here in Ireland, half a million each, because they looked nice. Those wild Celtic Tiger days!

Turned it on there by accident. Why would you bring yer man Diarmud over, when there are plenty of gardeners or horticultural people where they are. But much for me, she's a bit painful to listen to. I'm out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,255 ✭✭✭joeysoap

The previous owners saw her coming. There’s a reason why they jacked it in, she and all involved should have asked why.

She was asked on radio the other day how much will she be charging. Vague answer given. Question repeated, in Switzerland you could be charged €10,000 a week for this was the reply before saying there would be a minimum 5 night stay at around €300 a night.

For wraps and spaghetti. I know someone who is not going.

@joeysoap, that's my reaction, they probably couldn't believe their luck when they off loaded that place to Dr. Eva. I feel sorry for her husband, really trying his best, but just one thing after another. I wonder how the clients of her Irish clinics feel about indirectly paying for this. I thought she was a very smart lady, but it seems strange she didn't check it out.

Are they still together after it? I saw a tiny clip of her lying in hospital on the phone to him in Portugal... he didn't seem too concerned for her :pac:

What a plan, fix the garden when the actual hotel needs the work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,713 ✭✭✭BabysCoffee

Renovation was originally going to cost 500,000 but now will be 4 times the amount!!!! Whoa

Must be great to want to buy a hotel and then just get RTE to chip in with helping buy it.

Theyve lost the plot, how could they have got their figures so completely wrong. Not seeing how they are going to repay that loan

Exactly. If their business plan was originally based on 500,000 with a payback of say over 20 years - how are they now going to payback over 4 time the amount.

Its frightening what they have done. Plus Eva seems to think she will have a regular battalion of Irish heading out to stay there to get shouted at to lose weight off the back of her tv 'fame', best of luck with that

Even over 20 years.. what age is she, almost 60?
