    Hi there,

I am applying for a passport for the first time for my son. I am an Irish born citizen, my son was boar abroad.

According to the website I need to provide the following:

    - Parent’s original Irish birth certificate or passport.

Is a photocopy of my passport sufficent or do I need to submit my actual passport in the application.

They also request original birthcerts, I do not have my original, but I can submit my son's but will they send it back? Pretty important document and I would prefer to send a photocopy rather than sending the actual original.
