I nearly expect one of them to offer a free house to everybody in the audience.

Tax payers pay for a full stylist for Leo. On standby 24 hours a day with makeup artist.
Any link to that? Or you just making that up?

Ah Jaysus Ryan you’re a typical Green suggesting more taxes for us.

Leo doesn't seem to be getting to say much...bar the odd crokey moan over other people on stage

He's not trying too much to intervene which seems to be the way to get the stage time during this debate.

I have to admit, I really hate that nasally smug voice of his.

He's very very quiet tonight though! Surprisingly for a man obsessed with the media and spin

I think this debate needs Peter Casey for entertainment value.

Plenty of public land, additionally lots of farming land could be compulsory purchased, you can see so much undeveloped land when flying in to Dublin Airport.

Ah yes, let's just turn Dublin into an even bigger sprawl where everyone drives and there's sfa efficient public transport to keep the city moving...same for everywhere else. The topics election after election are so one dimensional. What about taking the initiative to discuss building up in the centre of our cities and getting a decent plan in place for the future of our cities and towns in 50 years, not just the next 4 years

What I can't understand is who is in all these social houses?

I thought social houses were for people without jobs. But then I thought we had record low unemployment.
Also 1 million medical cards? WTF.

I deplore socialism but RBB has made three very reasonable points.
    1. Interest rates are the highest in Europe despite the banks offering them being owned, at least in part, by the state
    2. The state made woeful decisions to sell off public assets at poor prices
    3. European models of renting state owned housing regardless of status, the only thing that changes is the means tested rent.

The state providing subsidy for housing is not a bad thing, but it needs to be tightly controlled so as not to disincentivise work. Delicate balance.

Martin is a great debater but no way in hell would I vote for FF.

    Howlin is laughably small.

Yeah... Brexit for a while probably

Eamonn Ryan needs to realise that without developers we will have NO further housing. Castigating and demonising developers is part of the reason we are in this mess. Not that I'm apologising or accepting the ills of the boom, but who is going to build if we constantly treat developers like a dirty word?

People deciding to have kids without a house over their head should have a touch of responsibility too.
