Match 37: Black Betty - Ram Jam v Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly

    Roberta Flack

Match 38: Waterloo - Abba v Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees

While I think there are too many ABBA songs in here for my liking, I'll vote for them this time

Match 39: Carry on my Wayward Son - Kansas v Boys Don't Cry - The Cure

I'll go Kansas, as I just can;t associate the Cure with the 1970s

Match 40: My Best Friend's Girl - The Cars v Dreaming - Blondie

    Blondie

Match 35: David Bowie although I used to be a fan of Oxygene - I had the whole album!

Missed a load. Glad to see one of my nominations going through: Heroes by David Bowie.

Also one of my nominations! Was never a huge Bowie but always loved that song. It's only in recent years, after he's passed away, that I'm starting to "get" him a bit more. Blackstar is a great final testament.

David Bowie had such a large body of work from the late 1960s right up to his final album released in January 2016 on his untimely death. His style of music changed so much over the years that there was always going to be some songs for everyone.

Same here, one of my nominations too. While I wouldn't be a fan, I do appreciate his music more the older I get. However I loved Heroes from the very first time I heard it when he performed it at Live Aid.

Heroes is special for its timeless quality.

I'd be interested to see if there will be any of the following to come, as they were all very prevalent during the 1970s: more 10CC, soul music, Hot Chocolate, more Status Quo, The Jam, The Stranglers, Mud and KC and The Sunshine Band.

I forgot The Stranglers! Peaches and No More Heroes could definitely have been on my shortlist.

There are 20 more matches to go. I presume people don't want spoilers. Once those matches are done, the complete list will be known anyway.
