Mairead McGuinness was dignified, and applied the rules as is her duty in her position. This is acknowledged throughout Europe. Farage looked the bully and a hooligan with his flags and arrogant speech.

Boris Johnson is some idiot alright, getting himself picked as PM, winning the British GE by a huge landslide getting stormont back on track and achieving Brexit after 5 months when others faffed around for over 3 years. He’s barely able to wipe his own backside. Why do we have to be insulted by these people?
It must be very frustrating for geniuses like fintan o toole and Richard Boyd Barrett and Ruth Coppinger, all major achievers movers and shakers with this fool getting in their way.

He doesn’t have anything near the brexit he wants yet and effectively lost some of his territory in all but name.
And all h e has achieved is a transition period.
    Not great so far.

The next few months we shall see how good he is.

Whatever our views on Brexit, I was very disappointed with Mairead McGuinness as Vice-President of the European Parliament her remarks yesterday were an absolute disgrace, ''take your flags with you'' who the hell was she trying to impress, she just couldn't leave her FG politics outside the door, with an election shortly here, she thinks there's votes in ''Brit bashing'' banging the green drum, well she has a wake up call, this election is about homes, health and pensions, playing the green card is long gone. Insulting our nearest neighbours does nothing for Anglo Irish relations and Mairead McGuinness cheap shot low life remark yesterday does nothing for that, and is an insult to demorcracy, a position of Vice-President of the European Parliament should be above making personal insults and served with dignity and respect, yesterday she let the mask slip, just couldn't help herself getting a final dig in at our nearest neighbour, she lowered the office and lowered herself.

Democracy only works or is accepted if it suits our eu ministers

Won what exactly. There are zero positives to Brexit

Well, that’s just your opinion, isn’t it? Would you not just admit that really only time will tell? And Johnson WON the leadership contest and WON the GE. It doesn’t matter what way you choose to look at it. Those are irrefutable facts.

Dignified? She came across like one of those auld ones behind the counter in the corner shop in our village 40 years ago throwing the schoolboys out of the place.

And rightly so. If the Brits had any sense, they should have done the same themselves several years ago.

And once again, to repeat, she was enforcing the rules of the Parliament. Act the maggot, you get kicked out. That the way the thing works and sniffing about Aul Ones is just being petty for a government office applying its own rules. Same as if a TD decided to started to use "unparliamentary language" which has happened, or in Westminster recently when a MP took the mace or whatever it was.

You can’t choose your neighbours, sometimes they’re just asses and should be called out on it. Your post is completely insane anyway.

Five months to go before either another extension or WTO.

The inter Governmental Council including UK have agreed that 1 July is the date for decision as above.

What do you think will happen?

Boris will achieve another great victory by kicking the can a bit further down the road.

Irony is that most believe it will be all sorted by end of this year. I'm not so sure, but what do I know. I doubt many understand that end of June 2020 is decision time really. That has been well hidden, IMV of course!

She enforced the rules. Nigel said he was leaving, sat back down, which is why she said "you're leaving". They weren't kicked out.

100% spot on and well above any mention of party politics. An ill informed OP.

If Leo is rejected, on Saturday, the gloating of these flag waving little englanders would really make me sick given the abuse he has received in the right wing press and their online forums.

    She was dignified and firm.

Well able to talk being an ex TV presenter.

They were schoolboys and have done nothing for future trade agreements that they wont be involved in directly themselves. Savage self centered egotism.

If you know the real reason/truth as to why, why would a shower like that bother you?
If they are fools, then lying again only makes them bigger fools.

It is because I am a patriot and I do not like to see my country trash-talked by those fools.

If Leo is rejected on Saturday it is basically because people are protest voting. Up to now in the Brexit process Covney and himself have played a blinder. People should ask themselves if the want FF back or even worse...do you want Sinn Fein calling the shots???

Leo will be rejected on Saturday.

People are sick of what they haven't done in the 9 years they have been in power.

Conveney was the strong link in Brexit talks, not Leo.

Sinn Fein will be in no government calling the shots. People in gainful employment know the repercussions of that.

Nigel was being nigel and she should have just let them have their little smug party, she wont be seeing them again. She made the entire EU look salty and gave nigel and his supporters a lovely video snippet to fondly remember.

You kind of do have to respond to that sort of behaviour sometimes, even if it is so childish and sad. Otherwise you're just a doormat.

I have a feeling they might have been told to get rid of the Union jacks before. They had them perched proudly on their desks during 1st sitting of the parliament. A final F-EU to bring them in again to wave on their last day.

All Team Nigels' various jokey lad "antics" in the EU Parliament (the little Union jacks, standing up & turning their arses to a live performance of Ode to Joy, generally treating whole thing as a joke and doing no work), somewhat "funny" at times if your political instincts lead you to agree with them, but always a faint whiff of something darker.

They also (afair) slandered EU bodies + people who work in them as opressors, made offensive comparisons to USSR/Nazi Germany etc - not quite so amusing.

I think LV called it correctly today. No matter what your politics it looks like forming a Government will take a while.

Yes they have short memories. They don't need short memories to remember what FG haven't done in the 9 years they have been in power.

Labour made a lot of promises that they were elected upon in 2011 and did the opposite. At the end of their term they were indistinguishable from FG. They were decimated as a result in the last election by the working man who would have voted for them. They haven't learned their lesson by having the same people in charge, but that's probably because they fear that AK could wreck whats left of them.

Green Party went into power with FF and were decimated in the 2011 election. Kids who don't pay bills will vote for them.

Sinn Fein. Well their policies are a little too left and nobody working wants to be paying for others sitting at home etc.

FF. Well, they haven't been in power in a long time. Are they the least forgivable ? Its a limited choice.

People have to make a choice...who do they want to lead them into Brexit talks, who do they want to hold power in 11 months time when Brexit possibly kicks in. FF who ran the country to the brink the last time they were in power or FG who were quite steady throughout all that has gone on.

The people have to ask themselves....could FG have really done much differently after taking over the mess that FF left after the banking crisis???

Yes. They could have started by not giving back the money to unsecured bondholders . The we might have a situation whereby people aren't paying USC and taxes of all sorts. We might have spent money on health services and infrastructure and housing.
