    Some even defend it.

Defend the bible? Didnt know a book was under attack

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,359 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Indeed he did, and his supporters were quick as ever to defend him on all that grabbing women by the pussy.

Indeed he didn't. He boasted how being rich and famous meant that women would let you do all sorts, including grab them by the pussy.

The key word being "let you".

    515240.png

Again, an abhorrent thing to say. Suggesting that women were so shallow and cheap that they would let a rich guy do what he wants.

But again, twisting it to make it worse helps nobody.

He didn't say he would date his daughter.
He didn't boast about assaulting women.
    He didn't recommend drinking bleach.

All 3 of the truths behind those claims are either disgusting, perverted, repulsive or stupid. There really isn't any need to lie to make them seem worse.

But Jesus IS without sin, therefore he CAN cast the first stone? So the picture is scripturally and theologically sound.

There is a wealth of scientific data to show a correlation between "religiosity" and a lack of intellectual curiosity.

More Knowledge, Less Belief in Religion?

How Religious Fundamentalism Hijacks the Brain

Basically it comes down to the fact that if you have spent your formative years being told that everything was "God's Will" (or Allah or Buddah or whatever) and that that declarative statement was not to be challenged you are far more likely to believe statements from "leaders" whole cloth and not challenge or question it , because that's how you've been trained your whole life.

In fact there are studies that suggest that the physical make-up of the brains of those brought up in religious fundamentalist families (of any denomination) are different to others in that the part of the brain associated with Cognitive processes , particularly those that drive Curiosity and Investigative thought are under developed compared to others.

To be honest the evangelicals are under attack from within if anything. They have deserted their morals to support a man who will deliver their agenda.

Imagine an Evangelical 20 years ago supporting a man who has 5 children with multiple women and who cheated with a pornstar while his current wife was nursing his youngest child.

Not to mention he has no clue about their precious bible he could not receit one piece of it

    They are such hypocrites

No matter how much you may want to spin it that way, if I grab a woman by the vagina and she doesn't immediately scream out for help, she hasn't "let me" dl it, and it doesn't stop it from being sexual assault.

If someone were to violently rape a woman but she just froze up in fear rather than fighting back (a well documented quite common response), does that mean she has "let him" do it and the rapist has not committed rape? Because that's what you are arguing here.

The Matthis criticism has been the most scathing yet. He has kept his powder dry on Trump for a long time but comparing him to Nazis is very strong and coming from a US General.

But on cue Donald has tried to destroy his character but only those diehards that follow him will believe that, the likes of Matthis have much more character than Trump could dream of.

I would like to hear what Trumps defenders on here think about Matthis's comments

So, Mr Matthis , a former secretary of something , sacked by Trump , comes out from under his stone , with a critique of Trump .

    Surprise , Surprise !!

Would have been more surprised if he had to have something positive to say .

Tomorrow is the anniversary so let’s reflect on what Trump has said in the past about Tianmen Square. Perhaps it’s relevant today!

“When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it,” Trump said. “Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak.”

While making that point, Trump also suggested that the Soviet Union suffered from the same problem — a lack of a “firm enough hand.”

“What you will see there soon is a revolution; the signs are all there with the demonstrations and picketing,” Trump said. “Russia is out of control, and the leadership knows it. That’s my problem with [Mikhail] Gorbachev. Not a firm enough hand.”

Who appointed James Mattis (who wasn't efven fired) to that role? Was it Donald 'only the best people' Trump? How is it that trunl keeps hiring "spineless snakes in the grass"? Could it be that Donald has poor judgement?

    Did he?

 Full transcript of tape here: https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37595321

Trump: "Yeah that's her with the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful... I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything."

    Bush: "Whatever you want."

Trump: "Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."

Trump apologists will dismiss every repugnant remark he makes.

Yeah, vote for Joe the Coward. Do nothing is accurate.

Such a leader? As riots have crippled the country where has Biden been? I know he might have mentioned the riots in passing but where are his calls to condemn the mayhem, the looting, the burning of buildings and property, the attacks on innocent citizens, and the murdering of police officers trying to keep the peace? What has Joe said about all the small businesses destroyed and the damage done to the inner city neighborhoods? I guess Joe is just fine with innocent citizens and police officers being maimed and killed merely because they are stuck between violent rioters and feckless Democrat politicians who run those cities and states?

Joe the Coward says nothing because of his sleazy political ambitions and he doesn’t want to offend the Black community. Joe is not a leader and should never be our president. He thinks he deserves to become president because he spent so many years in government offices merely being present. Yeah, right, we need a leader and Biden is no leader!

    Joe must go!

Coward, eh? It wasn't Joe Biden hidin' down a bunker!

I'll bet that same poster was immediately behind Trump in villifying peaceful NFL kneeling protesters for "disrespecting the flag and the military" by exercising their first amendments rights that that same military fights for.

What I'm arguing here is that the actual comment he made IMPLIED that women let him have sex with them because he is rich.

Do I think that he is a sleezeball? Absolutely. Do I think he has pressured women into sex, almost certainly.

But is the statement "he boasted about assaulting women" true? No it is not.

This is the point I've made many times. Trump's vile comments need no spin or manipulation. They are awful enough all by themselves.

Twisting what he actually said, like CNN claiming that he recommended drinking bleach, only feeds his narrative that everyone is fake news and out to get him.

It’s obvious there has been a radical leftist war on Christian and Jewish values in America, and the nation’s founding principles. The equality of individuals and individual freedom are principles of origin from Judeo-Christian in origin. They ARE under attack. But this discussion is better suited for another thread.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

Yeah better off heading somewhere else with that bullsh1t you are spouting

Where are your "Christian Values" when it comes to supporting a man who has many children with many wives and has had numerous affairs or are you just selective when you decide to invoke your Christian values..
