Yeah i know it was apt but it wasn't anything to do with my point i was making to others about idle speculation to suit an argument-its nonsense.

It absolutely was apt to show Fauci going against Trumps line on CNN (who Trump of course loathes), given the discussion was to do with is fauci was afraid/able to speak out against, criticise, or contradict Trump or not.

It actually may have backed up your side of the argument as much as the other persons, which is why I'm a little lost as to your defensive nature about my posting it.

Ha apologies im not being defensive against your post at all, you quoted me and i replied thats all, and yes it does back up my argument that fauci is not being told what to say, so when he says something positive towards trump take it as it is and not twist it some way in your head(not talking abot you btw).

I don't know how to break this to you, but I am not Dr. Anthony Fauci.

I don't care for your condescending attitude, but if you'd rather deflect then admit you were wrong be my guest.

You were singling Trump out for not following Fauci's advice. I was pointing out Fauci himself said he was getting pushback from everyone.

Care to engage in this point or deflect again?

Perhaps you'll decide attacking me in an underhanded way would be a better tactic.

    1. Where did Fauci say that they got pushback from 'everyone' and not just from Trump?

Given Trump has the power alone to enact a lock down like he was able to do with shutting down flights from China, and yet he still has not done so, it is clear he does not want one.

I can't help but feel this is related to your trump/umbrella analogy getting shown to be as full of holes as the umbrella itself in said analogy. If so, maybe try directly replying to that post in full.

Surely enough last night Trump started moaning about fake news and retweeting 'fire fauci' tweets from OANN (who make Fox News look reasonable) journalists.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1249470237726081030

It is going to be interesting to see where this goes. Trump has serious priors for this kind of thing, though his handlers will surely be doing all they can to convince him otherwise given Fauci's popularity and credibility.

He said there was a lot of pushback he didn’t say it was from everyone. Read Trumps Twitter feed from January and February and it’s pretty clear where some of the pushback was coming from. At least this puts to bed the fantasy that Fauci’s advice was followed from the start.

Trump rewards loyalty above any else (be that integrity, professionalism, or even qualifications), the minute Trump deems Fauci over the line by lack of pla mas, he's gone

OANN make wack job conspiracy theorists look credible.

They were banned from the press briefings but managed to get back in.

No surprise they are the Orange Mans favorite "news" channel now.

    Amazing times really.

Yesterday I received a holiday message from Joe Biden...

    3wemzw.jpg

Apparently there is a growing movement amongst democrats to replace Joe Biden with NY governor Andrew Cuomo for the presidential election.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

    No you didn't.

Apparently meaning you just made it up? Cuomo has ruled this out. After Biden has had his two terms Cumo would be a good option though.

Honestly the way you seem to view the current situation in the US where two thousand are dying daily is horrifying.

COVID-19 is serious business in the US. But before everyone jumps on the number of deaths here look up how we categorize deaths from the coronavirus. It’s skews our numbers dramatically upward. Any who die, no matter the reason, but has the virus, is automatically categorized as having died from COVID-19. But our shutdowns and social distancing being practiced by so many has helped to flatten the curve and is helping tremendously to decrease the projected numbers.

But life goes on, even the presidential election. Elections in the US, especially the presidential election, is a tough, no-holds barred, winner take all affair. Perhaps dry your snowflake faux tears and stick to less hardball current affairs topics (if you do do anything but lie in fear of the coronavirus, 24/7) like the phony weather cult and some creepy Swedish teen.

If one isn't tested, their deaths aren't declared as covid-19 so if anything the numbers are lower than the reality. Paramedics are likening it to a daily 911.

So feel free to misrepresent and call me a snowflake but nobody is gonna take you very seriously.

I a republican conservative US citizen. That, for some reason, automatically makes it that I’m not to be taken seriously here.

If you want to talk only about covid-19 there are plenty of threads here... go to them. This thread is about the presidential election. If you want to talk about the coronavirus and the election, then we’ll have at it.

Did you know Joe Biden has made Ezekiel Emanuel his Coronavirus Advisor? This is the guy who has argued that “living too long is also a loss.” Emanuel has touted that “for many reasons, 75 is a pretty good age to aim to stop.” I guess we know the medical advice you’ll receive if your over 75 and get the virus under a president Biden... “Too bad, so sad, sucker!”

He retweeted the tweet so that he could call out the following claim (within the tweet) as 'fake news':
"Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could've saved more lives."

I honestly can't believe mainstream media are actually suggesting today that Trump retweeting the tweet was in support of the call to fire Fauci, it truly beggars belief, but yet that's exactly what they're doing:

Add RTE Six One news to that list, as they just parroted what these MSM fools are saying and claimed that Trump is at "loggerheads" with Fauci.

He retweeted the tweet so that he could call out the following claim (within the tweet) as 'fake news':

The OANN tweet: Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could've saved more lives.

Fauci was telling people on February 29th that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large.

    Time to #FireFauci...

    ---

Trumps response: Sorry Fake News, it’s all on tape. I banned China long before people spoke up. Thank you
    @OANN

    ...

Pretty clear he is calling Fauci's statement 'fake news', and then he thanks them for the tweet which called for fauci to be fired. You can try to argue otherwise but it's right there for all to see.

I would appreciate a straight forward answer to the following, since you have dodged my responses entirely before: regardless of how likely you think may or may not be to occur. if Trump were to fire Fauci, would you consider this a good thing or a bad thing considering the doctors credentials and trust from the public?

Yes, we're approaching 'Ralph Wiggim finds Skinner and Crabapple in the closet'-levels of hyperbole when it comes to explaining what Trump 'actually' meant in his tweets

Another instance of Pete knowing exactly what Donald Trump actually meant while everyone else is wrong

Pete exactly when did you discover you had a secret hotline to Donald Trump's brain?

Well, in no big shocker Sanders is throwing his support behind Biden. And Joe said he would endorse many of Bernie’s socialistic ideas. Then Biden laid out the six "policy working groups" he would launch with Sanders: "economy, education, criminal justice, immigration, climate change, and the economy."

Alas, if only the DNC could keep the American people from hearing Joe speak, it wouldn’t be do embarrassing.

It seems apparent to me. Forget the third paragraph. It seems he retweeted it because of the first two paragraphs... that why would Fauci now be saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could've saved more lives, when Fauci was out there telling people in February that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large?

But, in honesty, Trump might have also had some ulterior motives for the tweet. He can be a sneaky devil at times. It is no surprise that without the getting back to business in the US to stoke the economy there won’t be some businesses for people to come back to. There needs to be a balanced approach to reopening the economy in sections... but it has to get back on track soon before higher taxes come into place to pay for all the spending that is going on, businesses collapsing, individual bankruptcies, evictions, people unable to pay bills or pay for food, declining mental health, and rising poverty. With Trump retweeting that post it could give some republicans and businessmen an ‘in’ to criticize Fauci if he is too conservative in getting back to business, even if Trump won’t.

Fauci is a doctor business isn't his concern. All that stuff you listed is going to happen anyway and not just in the USA.

Also opening any major city up to business is a guaranteed way to make things worse. You'll have crowded subway and densely populated cities going back to business as normal.... It would be an absolute disaster.

As you start to open things up of course there will be an increase in cases. All the business shutdowns, social distancing, and isolations were only meant to flatten the curve and reduce the spike (this coronavirus will be with us for a very long time and just about everyone will eventually get it). That flattening of the curve has been accomplished here. Thankfully we have an adult in the White House whose instincts on this matter have been right all along. He's the President and needs to consider all the implications of any decision, including social, economic, and the public health. He’s not a doctor who has the luxury to only concern himself with the medical aspects. Anyone with half a brain knows we need to reopen the country for business safely, and soon!

trump has no say in whether states reopen. That power lies with the governor of each state
