And we are also free to discuss the ramifications of the behaviour of the media industry that is whipping people into frenzies by largely removing context from as many statements as possible.

I would have thought that in this day and age you could get the unedited clips on youtube. There's a misconception over here that people get their news of Trump's nonsensical ramblings after it's been spun but these briefings by Trump are carried live by the networks and can also be watched later. Over on the Politics forum, for example, there's a load of them there who masochistically watch them live. I couldn't do that myself because I find that parsing his words into meaningful sentences to be too much of a challenge but people are hearing his words unfiltered by any media and coming to the conclusion that he talks an awful load of sh!te.

The man sat in a briefing before going to a press conference, what he takes away from that briefing is that using disinfectant on surfaces, he thinks to himself hey maybe we can look at injecting that into people, the results will be known very quickly.

Dead patient equals dead virus.. Trump idea wins!

And if no one spoke up sooner, it's their fault not Donnie's.

Of course not...he was encouraging people to use disinfectant .... Did he mean drink it or inject it?
    Inject.

“I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute,” Mr Trump said on Thursday. “One minute! And is there a way we can do something by an injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs . . . so it’d be interesting to check that.”

Added to that, if any fluids you drink are entering your lungs, you are in big trouble already.

His statement hasn't been remotely misrepresented...

If you pretend to yourself that there's no recording and that nobody else actually saw and heard him brief the world in real time, then you could probably make the claim that he was misrepresented. You'd have to be doing a lot of pretending to yourself though.

Ya he definately told Americans directly to inject themselves....

You have to remember, he receives all his instructions in Russian so sometimes things get lost in translation!!!

But there's no proof that he said those words anywhere on the internet. No video, no recording, nothing. You are misrepresenting what he said. You are fake news.

Jaysus, you've come wading into this thread talking some top quality shyte on unrelated topics.

What do you think 'injection' means, as it appears to be something other than 'injection' in your head?

You've been here long enough to know that those strawmen of yours are transparent and, well, a bit sh!t.

For what it's worth, Trump has just said live through the magic of the internet that he said exactly what people are claiming that he said.

To anyone who was saying that he was taken out of context, do you ever feel disappointed that the guy you feel compelled to defend blows your argument out of the water? Or will you just flip your reality again and pretend that you knew it was sarcasm all along?

Or more accurately the poster brings intelligence and nuance discussion to the subject matter and doesn't buy into the disingenuous groupthink.

Where are those torches and pitchforks... he must be stopped, eh?

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

Comprehension seems to be quite lacking today. I don't get it. For what... the third time now... I said if his science advisors disagreed with him they should have said so when he asked them during the conference... not later - clarifying things. That's all I said. I hope that will be the last time I have to say that, but I highly, highly doubt it. Trump Derangement Syndrome is sad, really.

Can I ask a simple question, why would he need his science advisors to tell him that they don't agree with injecting disinfectant ?
Surely to god every man, woman and some children know the dangers of ingesting disinfectant ?

I could understand if he was questioned on some complex medical/science stuff and miss spoke but this is basic stuff.

He didn't bring nuance. He tried to pretend that Trump was taken out of context when the entire context was available to all. His nonsense was so ill-informed that Trump himself has just contradicted him. He added nothing of value to the conversation, much like a high-school-educated valley girl sharing her opinions on quantum entanglement with physicists at Cal-tech.

Trump shouldn't speak about things that he clearly has no understanding about and more importantly because people are waiting for another opportunity to slate him.

He speaks what comes to mind. Saying disinfectant can kill viruses and the possibility of injecting disinfectant doesn't mean he said people should jack toilet duck into their veins. It means that maybe a medical formula can be developed with disinfectant or anti viral(again not toilet duck) properties. He isn't an eloquent speaker nor is he a doctor. He is a rude and arrogant businessman and people love to take everything literally especially when it comes to Trump
    It's part of cancel culture.

Does UV light kill viruses in general? Yes
Did trump say stick a light bulb up your unit? No

Perhaps because he trying to run the country, is dealing with a pandemic that has devastated us medically and economically, is provided with massive amounts of various information (scientific, medical, domestic, international, military, economic, government, etc, etc, etc) throughout the day regarding, isn’t a scientist or a doctor, is doing a 1-2 hour daily briefing on the coronavirus, and wants his science advisors to help make sure what he is saying has validity.

Bad man has no fault, he's too busy running a closed down country to know that uhhmm you don't injest/inject disinfectant into a body.

Peak Trump defending has been reached!

Who the heck in the world needs someone to tell them not to inject disinfectant into their lungs?

    Aside from 2 year olds.

    Oh Donald Trump of course.
    Apparently.
    Sources say.

Seriously to Christ. This is just ridiculous. We have now got the situation that the manufacturers need to announce that disinfectant can kill you if used this in way all down to the President of USA, a person with influencing, conjecturing that it might be a good thing.

What an absolute idiotic thing for him to do. There is simply no excuse for it.
Oh! Maybe there is, maybe he is geriatric and losing his mind. It's very sad.

    I am being sarcastic.

He is a pure fool, a moron of a man for saying it.

Your previous defense post of him fails from the get go.. he was briefed on things that kill the virus, disinfectant is one of them.. but it has zero place to be in any shape or form going into the body.. its sole use is on surfaces.

You do know, that if you are walking down a street, that if someone approaches you and says

Is there somewhere I can inject heroin around here?

They are not telling or advising you to inject heroin....they are asking a question...

If a sentence starts with ...Is there...that is the start of a question.....not advice or an order.....

Jesus...are we nearly at peak hysteria yet...

    Promise.

"If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation."

    Hows that going for him?

    Excellently:

But isn’t this what the various government departments are all paid to do.....look after their own specialised interests so he doesn’t have to be an expert in any of them.
Which again brings me back to the basic point, does you, your family or anyone on this thread need a scientific advisor to tell us that injecting or ingesting any type of disinfectant is a really bad idea ?

You do know that some things should not be posed as a statement or a question or wondered about or thought about or considered or anything at all....

An example might be, putting disinfectant into your body.

Like seriously, what would you say back to me if I asked you do you think it would work to put disinfectant in my body?
    - Would you say jesus amdublin don't be an idiot you will die
    - Or would you say "well what have you got to lose"? (Knowing what we all know about warnings on the bottle of disinfectant)

I don't recall any other US presidents in my lifetime acting that stupidly despite them having to deal with their own share of crises.

    - I know it is bad thing if I did that
    - Children know it is a bad thing
    - Do you know it is a bad thing?
    - Can you believe that Donald Trump does not know it is a bad thing? According to you he was looking to his science advisor to confirm to him whether it is bad or not :pac::D

NO ONE else in the whole world needs a science advisor to tell them it is a bad thing :D:D:D

Hey notobtuse, just in case you are like Donald Trump, please don't put disinfectant in your body to try clean out the covfefe

Obama certainly didn't. He got so much done during his presidency. He managed to deport 3 million people. Eyes on the prize
