Hi there, I did a few interviews & notice a lot of places pay monthly (I have only ever been paid weekly) I have maybe a silly question:o, is there usually a certain industry standard date monthly wages are paid or is it the last day of the month at 12 midnight or can it quite literally be any day in the month? Sorry if question seems daft, Im just thinking about balancing my finances if paid monthly as it will be quite a change for me:cool:

I was in one place that paid every 4 weeks classed it as monthly and another that paid the second last day of the month

It would normally be at the end, not any ole day within the month.
In my case it's the last Thurs of every month.... processed overnight Wed and ready and waiting from about 6am Thursday.

It can be any day of the month. Each business will have its own set schedule. Sometime in either the first week or last week of the month would be most common.

One thing to watch out for is the cut off date for payroll processing. If you start after the cut off date you might not be paid on the next pay day but might have to wait until the pay day after that.

In my last job I got paid on the 28th of each month, or the following Monday if it fell on a weekend. In my current job, it's the last day of the month, or the last working day if payday falls on a weekend.

Mine is the same, last day of the month so no set date each month.

Last job paid on the 25th of the month every month (Friday before if the 25th was a weekend).

Also worked in a weekly paid job where everyone was paid every Thursday.

Can vary quite a bit between companies. I much prefer the weekly pay though, psychologically being paid more often feels better!

Waiting until the very last day of the month is a pain.

If this happens to you the employer can sometimes organise you an advance by cheque for some of the money due as they know people can’t be without money for 8 weeks.

In my own experience, there's no set date.

It's usually been something like the last Thursday of the month.
