SF just don’t have the government experience. Thankfully their lack of confidence has protected us from them getting a majority,

The numbers do not add up for a government without two of the big three

Actually they do.ff fg have only 73 seats.if the rest are serious about getting the hegemony out of power ,they now have the opportunity to do so with 87 seats.are they really saying ff /fg are s##t on the doorsteps but we need them to hold our hand when we go into government

The numbers do not add up. Verona Murphy, Mattie McGrath, the Healy Rae's, Micheal Collins, Lowery,Naughton, Canny, Grealish, O'Donoghue etc are all centrists or right of centre and there is a few more as well they are of the FF or FG gene pool.

Two of the big three are necessary for government full stop.

LOL do you know these loopers :pac:

Mick Barry was on RTE radio this evening after he was elected and he wants no part of government. His message to SF was that they need to stay away from it too.

Heard that guy on a debate last week, nutjob! he probably got 10k people to vote for him- I've absolutely no idea how he got 10 votes never mind 10000!
You might as well go into government with a bag of cats as some of the lefties!

But the people voted for change.they did not vote for a government with ff/fg,that is quiet clear.why vote for someone else if it still means you have to have ff /fg.

How come FG/FF got over 70 seats then? People in reality voted so that at least one of those parties would be in government. there is no other option.

Two of the big 3 and another , difficult to see how a govt can be formed on current stance of the parties ie FG not interested ,SF only interested in another election and FF weakened and compromised . Another election looks likely as coalition for FF would be fatal .

Do ye not think that all the ff tds are looking around and going if we go in a deal to support someone else, ill be next out of a job .no thank you.they saw how that worked the last time.

Can see FF being burned if they go in with the Shinners
Cullinanes actions yesterday should be enough to scare all parties away and just highlights the closeness they still have to Criminality.

I'd say in 10 years time FF & FG will be the one party. Will be like the UK...a left and a right party...unless the Shinners are given enough rope to wipe themselves out

If I were ff or FG id pull the handbrake, spout out that the country has spoken and let the lefties sort it out. Any other option for either party is political suicide. THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN. we will hear a lot of that over the next few weeks. Only chink in that option is Martin's greed to be the boss.

    Exactly.
Could be time for a change at the head of FF

If FF decide they will not form a government with SF then they have to form a government with FG. The numbers only add up when two of the large parties are involved. FG have said they will serve. FF have the poison chalice in there hand they have to chose who they will form a government with otherwise it is them.that will be blamed if no government is formed.

What happens if there's an election in 2-3 months time. SF return with 50ish seats, FF static or at best 2-3 extra seats and FG recover to near 50, SF will have subsumed it left flank with the exception of maybe 6 labour TD and a smaller green party.

FF would still have to form a government but.now.no Mary Lou has the right to be toiseach.

Yes Mary Lou is going through the motions of trying to form a left government. However she knows the truth it's like being at a calf mart with 1k in your pocket needing to buy 25-30 calves and looking at pens of HEX and Contenental calves

Jaysus I dunno Bass. I feel Martin has hamstrung FF a lot over the past few years. A change of leadership now and a fresh voice into another election might improve their situation. It would be mad to prop up SF. You have to remember from now on Belfast will call the shots.

Nothing but bad choices left , If FF and FG form a govt then SF become the main opposition and eat up the smaller parties , meanwhile FF and FG weaken each other and lose the next general election which is liable to be earlier rather than later .

Moving to a tax workers, throw more useless money to the scrounges isn’t “worth a chance”

Damage to multinational investment alone isn’t “worth a chance”

A government lead by the left will drive us into recession for no good reason other than people thought it was “worth a chance”

Yea look what they’ve done since the formation of the state.
We live in one of the safest, healthiest countries in the world - shame on them.
Among the highest educational levels in the world - shame on them.
Excellent life expectancy - shame on them.

Ireland is a great country to live in, better if you work, and it wasn’t SF that made it this way.

But the sense of entitlement now will expect more from sinn fein, of course sinn fein have a money tree
When they increase taxes those benefitting from the handouts probably won't notice as they probably won't be working and paying taxes.
Giving the government/civil service extra money is the most ineFficient and poorest value for money so the taxpayers will more ripped off more than ever they were with FFG

SF are a professional opposition party but will quickly learn what it’s like to play at grown ups.

This isn’t the north where you can hold the governance of the country to ransom for a few years to make a point. We won’t put up with that petty squabbling.
