Lost count how many times he referenced Hitler, jaw dropped when he started talking about the carriage fulls of Jews.

Ivan Yates drivetime show on Newstalk. It's still on until 7, so not sure when it's available on playback.

Good God. Just heard Eoin Harris spitting venom about Sinn Fein. He has declared that anyone who votes for Sinn Fein is complicit in murder and will have blood on their hands.

I could not agree with him on that. While anyone who votes for Sinn Fein is complicit in endorsing those supporting murder and having blood on their hands, it does not follow that the voter also is complicit in murder.
You can see is point though - the two are closely related. But he is incorrect.

Hitler, and the Nazi seizure of power (the Machtergreifung), is a very apt echo and warning nonetheless for the mood of many of the Irish in this election. The Germans turned to Nazism very much in a 'well at least they will do something different', 'we are tired of all the currrent crowd', and 'well the surely cant make things worse' after the years of turmoil and hardship following the end of the Great War. SF are undoubtedly coming to the table with a more murderous and violent track record than the Nazis. So warnings referencing them are very aposite this week.

It's hyperbolic BS like this that's actually mobilising the SF vote. Well done.

As if we needed any more proof that Eoin and the other Anti-SF lot's are suffering severely from the SF popularity.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Now is not the time to ignore the terrorist backdrop of election candidates.

Although you're blatantly trolling, you should be ashamed of yourself stooping that low.

We really need some type of test before allowing people like the OP vote.

Lashing out wildly. Personal insults. Cannot rebut the points made when it clashes with the ideology. Reason departs them. There buzzin' alright.

I find it hilarious people think the media are against one side and for FG.

Like do they not watch prime time exposong FG councillors taking bribes?

The Maria Bailey story which had headlines for months every day.

The constant homeless stories by all papers every day.

Like how do people think the media are pro FG???

Every day there is stores slating the government, every single day.

Yet SF come out looking like victims because of one story??

Dont know anything about Eoin Harris but if he is calling out sinn fein for being scum then he is ok in my book.

My hole. If you're informed enough to hold an opinion on SF which can only be based on troubles era politics then it's simply impossible for you to have no knowledge of who or what Eoghan Harris is...

Paul Quinn murder was 2007 yeah?

Didn't the troubles end in 1998?

The only thing necessary for the triumph of comedy is that Eoghan Harris opens his mouth.

Pretty much. So many of the people still involved and subscribing to that terrorism are still active in SF, and it still defines their ethos. They are simply pursuing a different tack. But are the same people. We look for all the clues we can for the character and person that are those we choose to elect. Being involved in murder and terrorism is a very strong no no to all rightminded people. SF are unelectable for those with a sense of morality.
Incidentally, and while there is some discussion on the matter, on balance, it seems it is better to put no votes in the boxes of SF candidates than to number them at the bottom of your paper. I commend this strategy.

Boards is melting down on several fronts. There's an unusual level of foaming at the mouth right-wingers losing the plot over the past couple of days. It's been fun watching them go nuts actually.

When are they not losing the plot?
