    Very true.
    Assaulting Gemma O'Doherty is fine.
Assaulting Roisin, a Shinner, is bad.

Hmm. The truth is assaulting women (or anyone) is never okay.

Nobody has ever assaulted Gemma. Despite her multiple claims.

Nobody is making excuses. Not a single person.

You're either being willfully ignorant at this stage, have problems with reading comprehension, or are simply trolling. Please let me know which one it is before I hit the report button.

Roisin, the victim, says the PBP honchos knew about this incident from a year ago but did nothing. Ergo, they were making excuses. Whether their excuse was "our political goals are more important than one individual victim" remains to be seen, but they were making excuses. Time will tell if this went all the way to top with Richard Boyd Barrett because he could soon find himself in hot water too.

She says some PBP members knew about it. She doesn’t claim they excused a thing. My comprehension here isn’t the issue - it’s yours.

Yes although they couldn't resist bringing the colour of his skin into it.

Could do with a bit of quality control on here, tbh.

He’s a total bell end but I’ve been looking on twitter and it seems she’s not adverse to assault either.

Throwing milkshake over somebody she doesn’t agree with is a sign of a ****.

Nah. The fringes of politics are two cheeks of the same arse. Show me a Gemma O’D or PHP supporter and you’ll have an example of a loser with anger issues. It’s the fuel of fringe politics.

I was referring more to surreptitious personal failings in politicians. No argument that overt nut job candidates attract nut job supporters.

Holy war has broken out on his Facebook. A couple of devoted female fans assuring him that everyone makes mistakes and they hope he’s getting the help he needs. You couldn’t make it up in fairness.

Is this merely product placement for your account name?

This is hilarious altogether. Although it’s easy to see how PBP could allow this behaviour considering how Joan burton and her assistant were treated by Paul Murphy and the mob.

Once again - they’ve not allowed it. And Paul Murphy isn’t in PBP.

You mean the false imprisonment charge? :pac:

Joan I imagine will be entering forced retirement tomorrow.

It's refreshing to see right-wingers believing a woman and not instinctively taking the side of the abuser.

PBP are no different to any other small party - right or left - in that they don't seem to have any 'quality control' when it comes to selecting candidates. The dogs on the street knew that Loughnane was (at best) a dubious character.

Did Loughnane not apologise thus indicating that she wasn't making up the incident?

    This is his statement
I am suspended from the party with immediate effect and will face disciplinary proceedings. I intend to resign after Roisin's experience is dealt with officially.

There is nothing I can to say to excuse such behaviour. I should know better. I have been seeing a counsellor and will continue to do so.

I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologise to Roisin and to ensure everyone that I accept responsibility for my actions.

This type of behaviour is the very thing the politics I have tried to represent, rallies against. I have let down that politics, I have let down my party, I have let down all my supporters.

I have let down the women who have supported me.

I will be stepping down from all organisations I campaign with. I will be making every effort to ensure I fundamentally address how I can exhibit such behaviour while claiming to stand for equality.

And to think all the energy put into SF the last few weeks. They must have missed this lad...or more likely they weren't as big of a threat so...meh.

People who have never looked into the history of socialist politicians around the world shocked when a socialist politician in Ireland turns out not to be the angel they thought he was.

Everyone else only surprised more of them haven't been found out yet.

You think this sort of thing is an exclusive socialist trait? Seriously?

Joe Loughnane was born and bred in Galway. He’s Irish, and to be specific, a Galwegian. Just for additional clarity, Leo Varadkar is a Dubliner.

So what does that make Salome Mbugua?

Strangely enough - neither has any impact on her whatsoever.

Other stories on twitter about PBP candidates doing the rounds. The more bizarre involving "unsolicited dick pics"...

This is the standard of the 'left' in Ireland and most definitely the rabble in PBP.

I'm sorry...but what? Have you evidence for this?

I have it on good authority that they’re all mad for the dick pics in the IFP. The NP not so much. Something to do with ‘size queens‘ apparently.

Here is quite a damning statement from Joe Loughnane's own brother. Yikes.

    https://twitter.com/TheRealMcCall20/status/1226194610952818690

Just curious is there a link to his brother's own page or anything on this? I seen this on Twitter earlier and it seems to have originated from an "Irish Patriot" so the cynic in me is wondering if people who have been targetting Joe Loughnane for the last while have decided to pile it on. Not to excuse what he has done by any stretch, it's all sort of wrong.

The brother seems about as well adjusted as Joe. Just in different company.
