SF would be far better off refusing to go into a coalition with either of the other 2. Let them make their own mess for (hopefully) the final time).

Is that what ‘change’ looks like?

Ya right. They're the first political party to celebrate a successful campaign.jesus wept!

Flags and sing "rebel" songs. We've moved past that. It is embarassing.

SF want Northern Ireland. The majority of people want nothing to do with NI in a union. NI is a lapdog of UK the last 20 years and they know their place.

NI that went through almost 4 decades of a political conflict is a lapdog of the UK?

Seriously? Is it even possible to be any more wrong?

You also only became aware today that the shinners aspired to a UI.

I don't think Politics is your thing at all tbh.

You said earlier you have no interest in UI but that's not the general concensus, the partition is stupid on such a small island.

So SF won't govern yet again? Sigh....

Just go to google images if your memory isn't that well. Plenty of gloating in count centers around the place.
I even took part in it myself when in the LP.
    Although that was short lived.

I've seen that in count centres too.
    It's easy to understand.
A lot of party workers after a hard campaign and the blood is up.

Some of this online gloating is a bit off though.
Sitting at home in cold blood using terms of abuse etc.
Doesn't add much to the discussion.

The majority of people want nothing to do with NI? Source?

The results of this election suggest otherwise.

It's depressing that in our current political climate that your opinion is pretty radical while singing and chanting support to the IRA, an illegal terrorist organisation, on national TV is grand.

What a time to be alive.

Because FG don't have a mandate- their vote has dropped yet again after another spell in govt. SF has surged on a wave of "change". It would be futile to ignore that.

Not a good enough reason. Fg will still probably end up with more seats than SF after tonight. Balls in their court.

Can I ASk you who you voted for Eric ? We were both in tough predicaments as fg are sell out frauds to workers ...

Less distance to travel between FF and FG. Why not them?

Because SF need to show what they can do.

They have been given a mandate

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,166 ✭✭✭Fr_Dougal

I'd say Mary's preference is Leo, she can't be out republicaned with FG, she has him by the balls. The dubs won't transfer power to a cork boi.

Probably. But FG are standing by their pre-election promise, no government with SF.

Of course FF made the same promise but have gone quiet now, let’s see if FF stay true to form and backtrack. I’d imagine it would seriously piss off their supporters.

No interest because the majority of Ireland worked their arses off. Only for the public sector NI to come in and destroy everything.

I don't have payslip to hand but about 17-19% doing calculations in my head.

Your total pension contribution if you're in the civil service earning €50,000 is €2,800pa or 5.6%.

Even if you're a secretary general and your salary is €200,000 your pension contribution is only €7.37%

Edit: I see you were including USC in it for some reason.

A mandate please. Do you think an independent has a mandate to be in government or a small party like the Green's or Labour. FF-FG would have a mandate by dint of the fact they'll have the most seats in DÉ

SF and FG would only have around 73 seats. FF and SF around 83. Two Republican parties. Parties who got the most seats and most votes. FG have been there for 9 years. SF say the vote was for change. This is their chance

im presuming that most count centres have adjourned for the night. How are RTE going to drag out another 4 hours?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,553 ✭✭✭lmimmfn

No interest because the majority of Ireland worked their arses off. Only for the public sector NI to come in and destroy everything.
Honestly that's a very strange view of the situation overall.

No sorry to disappoint- figures I'm seeing have SF or FF with the most seats. People want "change"? So why the sudden reticence and hiding behind losing parties that I'm very much picking up now. One would almost think SF don't want to be in government?

Majority of people on republic voted for SF as a protest vote. They have no interest In NI. Leave that to the UK. We are trying to sort out healthcare. The Shinners would ruin that with their ambitions.

If only the 'big'; two would chat with them...you'd think they wouldn't rule out anything wouldn't you

You and I are paying for one bed luxury apartments at e1800 a month. This is the kind of bolloxogy that makes me laugh, when ffg talk about sf and magic money trees ! What a genius way to spend the money ! Are they printing it on that new printer in the dail? Should be as capable as anything in the national mint with the cost of it ! At least if someone balls up to that extent with at in power , they’ll be taken out back !

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,229 ✭✭✭LeinsterDub

Because SF need to show what they can do.

They have been given a mandate

FF are likely to be the largest party they'll be in the driving seat. FF claim that dealing with SF would be unthinkable so they should deal with FG

FF won't let Mary lead the dance. FG won't have a choice, FG/SF/GP and a few Indies....
