I believe Labour said they wouldn't go in with Sinn Fein so she will need to seats of every other party (exclusing Fine Gael and Fianna Fail of course) to get a majority.

Nearly sure PBP said the same too, heard it on newstall earlier..

The right call for FF IMO. If they do a deal with SF, SF will pull down the gaff in six months or a year and form a broad left coalition after the GE. FF will be crucified from both sides, as all the SF-haters gravitate to FG. All FF & FG can do now is huddle together for 4/5 years and hope the SF thing is a passing fad of the voters.

I want another election, I love them. There were three of them within 18 months back in the 1980's. Happiest time of my life. How do you know what most people want?
You don't but you find out very quickly what they don't want!

If SF don't get on the Gov benches this time I will be very disappointed.

If they can they should, if they decline they should be vilified.

Is this the next tactic now try to blame SF for Leo and Michael being stubborn :pac:

    Surely ye can do better?

He had to as he was under pressure.

The up the ra comment was harmless.

The lying about it before he knew a video was bouncing about is worse.
He should be censured for that.
The 'up the ra' comment in a pub was stupid.
But if anyone thinks that affects the people who voted for them two days ago, a lot of other party voters have another thing coming (not you)

Stupid comments don't outweigh the housing/rent crisis and cost of living.
That's what SF will be judged on if ever they get to form a coalition this time around.

It won't be 4-5 years, a year would be good.

Their electorate may not be happy if they stick their bums on the opposition benches for another few years either. Time will tell.

Their electorate are literally frothing at the gills to get power, just upping their seat count doesn’t cut it for them...

FF and FG have been huddled together last few years and where did that get them?

That would be one of the best case scenarios, as we see with the gob****e in Waterford they need some work to make sure they get rid of the mistakes and links to the IRA they are trying to distance themselves from.

Be interesting to see how left they really are though.

The best thing FF could do is run Martin.

How they can expect people to vote for them when he is in charge is an insult. He was in cabinet when they ruined hundreds of thousands of lives.

Talk about giving two fingers to the country...FF and the greens back in power again 9/10 years after they destroyed it.....can't see FG agreeing to that.

I dunno, the sense is that there is not a stable government in there so themselves and FG should start getting ready for the next election.

In the interests of both FF and FG, especially the former, to postpone the next election as long as possible...

Never under estimate politicans and power, they would crawl over their dead grannys grave to get into power. Funnier things have happened.

He has all the personality of a moth eaten hammock, probably a good guy but in terms of leadership, no.

Don't forget 50% of the country gave them their first preference and many more gave the Greens especially their no. 2. Less than 1/4 voted for Sinn Fein.

I remember a time when 60% of the people voted against FF and they ran the country with a majority. Was that 2 fingers to the country or politics?

Actually agree with you there....watching MM yesterday on whether he'd go into government with SF was a perfect example of that...the turncoat.

Who will lead FF? They are holed beneath the water line, no talent coming through. Students run a mile from their former talent nursary cummans in universities. Their great white hope Lisa Chambers got drop kicked out of her seat.

Fine Gael aren't much better. We saw how the demographics broke at the exit poll. Under 45-50, fewer and fewer are voting 'big 2' and by the time you get to people in their 20s they look like small fry.

PBP said they wouldn’t go into government with SF ? So that’s two parties out of the reckoning. The greens might get 12 or 13 and the Soc Dems may have 6 so that’s 18 or 19 more but they’ll need more than that to have anything stable.

Let's not pretend that FG/FF policies haven't led to the deaths of 1000's.

Instead of bullets they got the rope or a river.

Things could still get a whole lot worse, especially for FF. Only hope for FF now is to form grand coalition with FG & Greens, lock it down for 4/5 years, and pray for a change of a political weather.

Trying to fling dirt at SF didn't work before the election

It's going to do fck all for you now.

Think a lot of people here need to realise that the days of IRA mudslinging are over, especially the more delicate who check under their bed for the Provos every night before they go to sleep.

Sinn Fein endured a sustained and vitriolic 48 hour campaign on the Paul Quinn affair by FFG and their media pals right before polling day and Sinn Fein went up in the polls, not down.

The incompetents in the HSE system wouldn’t have changed with a bigger wedge, dude.

Just still the same incompetents, just costing the taxpayer more.

    Go figure,buddy.

FFS. Yeh just pull the rug over the cervical cancer scandal that FFG presided over.
