No. It will be up to the party with most votes to try form a government.

If they fail or refuse to do so then its up to them to say that and offer the next biggest party the chance to form a government.

How could it possibly be SF responsibility if they do not end up with the largest number of seats in the Dail.

The largest party has to acknowledge that they have failed to form a government before other parties can step forward to form one.
    Most seats or most votes?

Even the retuning officer in Wicklows voice is going.

Best thing for FG & FF is to leave the others at it. The more that get dragged into that left government the better for them. They will tear themselves apart after 2-3 years.

All the youth and free loaders are expecting 100k cheap homes in the next 5 years or 3 years if the PBP have anything to do with it. Tax cuts, rent supplements, free GP care for their kids, no carbon taxes, free school books, scrapping of college fees and even grants to do up their homes along with a huge bounty of other goodies.

They wont know what to do if, the **** hits the fan with Brexit and if the big players move out once they land their tax bills. Once the millennials start to loose their jobs in great thrives and can no longer pay the additional pension funds required it wont take long for it all to come tumbling down.

The vast majority of FF voters did so having been told FF would not go into gov with SF. If they go back on that they will be destroyed at the next election. Thankfully FG are sticking by their promise. If FF go in with SF expect a massive swing in FF to FG in the next election, in ways it could be the best outcome now in the long run as FF will lose a load of support and SF will show the county they are a crowd of idiots.

I don’t disagree but unfortunately we will have to live through it and I don’t really want to waste two years of my life and career to discover that SF policies are idiotic.

1 seat more is effectively a draw.

    would you stop talking nonsense.

It's only a draw if they have the same number of seats.

Or is it your afraid that FF will now do what you have been accusing SF of doing for years.

If FF ended up with most seats and Michael Martin announced tonight he has no intention of forming a government, I'm sure Mary Lou would jump at the chance to try form one.
Until he makes that announcement Mary Lou and SF cant do a thing. They can talk to other parties to see if there would be an interest in forming a government but that's all they can do.

That was what Robert Troy was saying to Claire Byrne that Sinn Fein should go off and work away and see where they get.

    Dam right!

Right on brother. It must of been all those additional youth and free loading voters that had it at the 4th lowest turnout in history. They came out of nowhere.

Those masses of youth and free loaders that managed to out SF beating quotas straight out the gate and number ones across the country.

I mean we've so many of these youth and free loaders they managed to do all that...

    Or
    ..

Errrr it wasn't the youth or even freeloaders. It was normal working people sleeping on parents couches or spare rooms for three years to buy a house or young couples in decent well paid jobs paying half their wages in rent not being able to save and not having the option of their parents because they live down the country and they kids are renting in Dublin.

    You know .... Working people.

Jennifer Whitmore taking the last Wicklow seat SD

Eh no. Only 2 seats filled out of 5.

Donnelly and Harris will get in anyway.

B get some medication for dizziness along with ulcer meds. That's some serious spin going on there.
What party has campaigned to go into opposition?

Coveney said today I think that Fine Gael should go into opposition.

    Nope

According to CB live both him and Harris will make it over the line.

Robert Troy suffers from panic attacks, that may be affecting him.

SF had most of the seats in the first Dail 1919.

Time for SF, FF, and the Greens to get into negotiations very soon. Country doesn’t have time for posturing.

After the 2016 election It took FF and FG three full rounds of talks and 70 days to form a government so the bar has been set pretty low
Surely the greens wouldn't be foolish enough to prop up a ffg government. I'd never vote for them again anyway.

Id say they would be more than willing to prop up anything, some of those Greens think that the planet is going to explode in 10 years so they need to get in now to carbon tax us quickly to prevent the forthcoming apocalypse.

Jennifer Whitmore taking the last Wicklow seat SD

Good election for the SD given before the election their two TDs people were saying would they go the way of the PDs and okay it's only 6 TDs which gives them a presence in the dail.

If MLM can 'go away' and make a deal with Eamon Ryan and the greens in some way, they could come back to FF and FG and say we have MLM for Taoiseach, what about coming in to Government with us?

Unlikely but would put us in a stalemate

No I heard Mary Lou saying earlier she is satisfied she is the most likely to be Taoiseach so am I correct in saying we’ll have the first SF Taoiseach?

Mary Lou can say what she wants - a coalition made up of SF, Labour, Soc Dems, Greens, PBP, I4C and a load of independents wouldn’t last a month.

The people voted for change. Change is FF/SF/Greens. The people gave them a mandate. They rejected FG. Time up step up to the plate, folks. Give the people the change that was promised.

No. She'll be Leader of the Opposition.

    FF(34) + Lab(6) + greens(11) +(9)Independents = government. 60

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,550 ✭✭✭✭Water John

MLM may think she can go and put the other small parties in her pocket and then come taking with MM. Not the way it works. No other party will let MLM do the talking for them.

    A more palatable Labour.

    They're a brand new party.

Not sure if you know this or not. But you know one can never be surprised judging from the quality of your posts.

if SF really want to sit this one out or force a return to the country, they'll demand Justice and Defence ministries.

thatll put insignificancies like who gets to play boss into perspective very quickly
