SF gone to ground, unable to provide a spokesperson for SOR.

    Is this a record?

Matt Carthy was on Morning Ireland on the David Cullinane story.

I don't think you'll have them on the airwaves discussing their attempts to talk others about a government.

Also on NT and all they wanted to talk about was a guy in a pub.

I think SF will take negotiations far enough to pull the plug and make it FF’s fault for another election. Or force FF to then turn to FG. Negotiations are all about leverage and SF have that in spades right now.
    .

    They will in their hoop.

SF have a situation whereby nobody wants to go into government with them and they don't have the numbers otherwise.

FF are most certainly holding the cards. He will go into government with somebody resembling their plan rather than the polar opposite.

Oh and by the way the party that has improved greatly since the last election is the greens who have seen +10 seats

37 candidates elected from 42 must be some sort of record. You have to hand it to Mary Lou. Really thought the party would struggle after Gerry stepped down.

Hard to walk straight on uncertain ground from previous mistakes

Now Francie I’m not expecting immediate results, but going underground on the big issues so early is not like them.

Show some leadership is what I am saying.

One interview.. does not equate going underground.

Tbf. You're being a bit silly now

Nothing silly about plain speaking surely.

You're going to blame the last guy before ye even get in?

New politics doesn’t involve skulking away from our national broadcaster’s flagship current affairs programme because they don’t want to answer questions about the dude down in Waterford.

SF supporters don’t see what the fuss is about, but that’s what’s makes their hardcore supporter different than those of us in general society. They think differently and have a different moral compass. The party knows it’s an issue though and have gone to ground.

Isn't that what FG based their previous campaigns on and have used it as an excuse for the last 9 years

It's one interview... Is this really what your hanging your coat on.

You realise they are out and about trying to form a government.

Well if they've both said no to SF then it's back to the polls.
In all probability yes but a good way before we get there and many options to play with.

The desperation around here the last few days was funny but becoming a bit sad.

Our current issues are complex, and caused by long term failures from previous governments, they will more than likely continue for many governments due to their complex nature, each new government adding more complexity to these issues, and introducing their own failures to address these issues, of course there will also be success stories along the way, as was with previous governments

So the country was in great shape when FG took over.

That’s a new one on me.

    You are getting silly now.

No it wasn't in great shape. But the point been made was FG blamed the previous government for 9 years.

Nobody was on Pat Kenny either. they don't want to face the questions. Which is fair enough, the damage has been done and staying quiet is probably the best option since they clearly don't want to apologize.

However the fact they don't want to apologize says a lot about the party.

That's what they are avoiding having to do.
    Standard behaviour.
How many times have we heard the line about all parties at one time or another...'xxxxxx is unavailable for comment' or 'we asked xxxxxxx to provide a spokesperson, but none was available'.
