We had the same rhetoric and posturing last time. That took 53 days to come around to what everyone knew was inevitable.

Oh, they might move on a C&S but full-blown coalition I reckon is a bridge too far. Last time too the arrangement gave us stable numbers, this would not.

I don't think they will do either, pairing up has been a disaster for both parties, its split the vote and given it to SF and the left. You can't pretend to be rivals after spending 4 years supporting each other, the public aren't ****ing stupid.

You nicely skipped over SF having disastrous presidential, local, and euro elections since the last Dail. By the numbers of candidates they ran and the bonkers manifesto they also hadn't felt a dramatic increase in support on the doorsteps prior to the election being called.

The ones that have their heads in the sand are those that see this as the new normal and don't have concerns that a decent proportion of this vote was protest and can disappear as quickly as it arrived.

Some members of the public imagine they can, less out of a desire to see a government than to see the back of one or both of them. I think they are both very close to absolute red lines.

If SF don't manage to get FF to join with them and they form a left wing multi coloured coalition how will they operate on a practical level in Government. With little or no ministerial experience in such an arrangement and no-one to show them the ropes how will they cope ?

Even all left leaning parties agreed to go in with SF they would still be short 15 seats for a majority

Don’t know what your point is.

If a party has a manifesto which is totally at odds with yours, why would you have any interaction with them.

My friend, FG and FF have walked the walk, I have no great interest in FF but fair is fair, they took a huge hit in the Brexit negotiations.

Now this strategy put no money in anyone’s pocket, just secured the future and prevented our country being very seriously hit.

This of course did not resonate with the base support for SF, FF and FG got no kudos whatsoever from that.

So, I have no problem at all with a second election, the left have been sniping from the wings for years, promising everything from a populist point of view and now are bricking themselves as they have been forced from under their slates.

So, let’s see how they operate and who are those they hit to achieve their aim.

Let’s see if their tax policy hits their own support base.
