Jim O'Callaghan is angling for a job as Minister. Simple as, nothing more than that.

    Do you speak for Jim?
I'm surprised though that a self confirmed Green party supporter such as yourself have offered no opinion on the suggestion of the Greens going in with the Shinners. Your lack of commentary on that suggestion is very strange tbh

It's quite a stretch really to try to force two parties who lost over 20 seats between them, into an arrangement they oppose to suit others.

We had the same rhetoric and posturing last time. That took 53 days to come around to what everyone knew was inevitable.
Timmy Dooley on there on the radio, opening doors - closing doors, thinking he is being wily and vague etc etc. It would make you sick.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, Up The Ra, you love to see it.

Oh, they might move on a C&S but full-blown coalition I reckon is a bridge too far. Last time too the arrangement gave us stable numbers, this would not.

Yeah, what are the public thinking....
It would almost make anyone wonder why they bothered to run in the first place.

I don't think they will do either, pairing up has been a disaster for both parties, its split the vote and given it to SF and the left. You can't pretend to be rivals after spending 4 years supporting each other, the public aren't ****ing stupid.

Yeah but if FF came to them with a serious offer I reckon they would change their tune. FG wouldn't want to be seen to have 'forced' FF to deal with SF...

IWT the majority of FF TDs will favour Govn't. A few like Jim will come round when a Ministerialship is possible.
C & S is not going to be considered in any way.

During the water protest SF got 14 seats, they have 37 now and could have had 45 but keep burying your head in the sand while you telling you're self it's the stupid, the unemployed and the wasters. As I said if FF and FG don't take a hard look at themselves and listen to what a lot of average people in this country told them they'll be out of office for years to come

You nicely skipped over SF having disastrous presidential, local, and euro elections since the last Dail. By the numbers of candidates they ran and the bonkers manifesto they also hadn't felt a dramatic increase in support on the doorsteps prior to the election being called.

The ones that have their heads in the sand are those that see this as the new normal and don't have concerns that a decent proportion of this vote was protest and can disappear as quickly as it arrived.

Some members of the public imagine they can, less out of a desire to see a government than to see the back of one or both of them. I think they are both very close to absolute red lines.

I'd say Tubs is pi**÷ed that he has a Valentine's special Late Late this week and he can't ask Mary Lou on.

He can get Christy and Holly from West Cork.

Using the times coalition builder , FF and FG with some of the right independents can make a stable enough government bypassing the greens and and shinners.

The Shinners can build a rainbow left coalition with the greens and all the left but it wouldnt last long or help the country in any way.

Looks like the shinners victory may give us a stable cemterist government of the two major parties aftersll

Would have thought the greens would have made it more stable than some Independents

If SF don't manage to get FF to join with them and they form a left wing multi coloured coalition how will they operate on a practical level in Government. With little or no ministerial experience in such an arrangement and no-one to show them the ropes how will they cope ?

Even all left leaning parties agreed to go in with SF they would still be short 15 seats for a majority

They are running scared, certainly their supporters on here are running scared. It was great shouting at the Ministers and the Taoiseach, great putting out an election manifesto that their most ardent follower on here has described as just a sales brochure, but actually doing something, taking up a Ministry and delivering some results, that is a whole different ball-game.

At the moment they look and sound like a young lad just out of county minor, called up to the senior hurling squad and being a frightened rabbit in training. And that is only the club training, wait until he actually makes county training.

Why do you think they are all trying to dream up schemes where they can have a second election or where FF and FG are forced to form a government, or where FF can be blamed for the failure to form a government? Fear. Real fear of being held to account for stupid impossible promises.

Do you really think those 'sinister figures' who dealt at the top table in Dublin, Westminster, Belfast and Washington are (a) posting on here and (b) running scared of Shane Coleman, Yates, Cooper, et al.

To quote a journalist who paraphrased Seamus Brennan yesterday. It may be 'senior hurling' but SF are Kilkenny.'

The seats aren't there for a left coalition. How many times do people need to be told that.

I wonder will we have a new leader to welcome the Royal's?

So you think the best option is allow SF point at both FF and FG and say 'we tried to form a government but neither of these two parties with similar numbers of seats would talk instead they forced a second election' .. Not a great narrative to allow the Shimmers have going into a second election.
Btw they are out in the open all 37 of them.

Don’t know what your point is.

If a party has a manifesto which is totally at odds with yours, why would you have any interaction with them.

My friend, FG and FF have walked the walk, I have no great interest in FF but fair is fair, they took a huge hit in the Brexit negotiations.

Now this strategy put no money in anyone’s pocket, just secured the future and prevented our country being very seriously hit.

This of course did not resonate with the base support for SF, FF and FG got no kudos whatsoever from that.

So, I have no problem at all with a second election, the left have been sniping from the wings for years, promising everything from a populist point of view and now are bricking themselves as they have been forced from under their slates.

So, let’s see how they operate and who are those they hit to achieve their aim.

Let’s see if their tax policy hits their own support base.

    Uhmmmm.......

With the GP on board they could do it, but what a rainbow !

If he hangs on as leader of FG then yes. At least until a second vote or coalition

When are FG having their confidence vote btw?

He could still be Taoiseach into the summer and get his original favoured date if things don't work out!

Leo will still be in office till a new government is formed, can't see any reason why he won't say hello to them if he is still there.
