When do we get to see Zappone and Shane Ross I wonder?

Looks like Gino Kenny is going to lose out, shows you all the PbP diehards were willing to jump to the shinners for more 'free gafs' . I think when the dust settles and its all analysed were going to find out that its all the low income demographics and those still dreaming of a united ireland without realising theres costs associated who put them there.

RTE seem to think he might hang on.

A bad day for you Eric.

"It could be the case that all existing five TDs - Brendan Howlin (Lab), James Browne (FF), Malcolm Byrne (FF), Michael D'Arcy (FG) and Paul Kehoe (FG) - are returned to the Dáil. Another scenario would see Paul Kehoe, Sinn Féin's Johnny Mythen and Verona Murphy fighting for the last seat."

Best Guess from RTE in Wexford! Mythen over 6000 over the quota.

I was just pointing out how much of a surprise that result must have been for everyone.

Hardly believable that a pretty invisible TD like Kathleen Funchion could top the poll whilst the very capable Lisa Chambers might lose her seat. Same for Mythen in Wexford - how/ why could people justify sticking his name to No1?

The SF election literature was not about the candidates, no contact information at all on ours for the SF candidate. It was just a photo of the candidate alongside brand Mary Lou, a bit of negative blurb on FF/FG and that was it.

Unbelievable that the electorate has fallen for this 'change'.

    He really knows his stuff.

Topping the poll, getting in on first count in a constituency that included Coveney, Martin and McGrath.

    Unreal.

    Only 31.

Leader of Sinn Féin in the making I think.

There will be a lot of SF topping the polls (by large margins) due to FF/FG trying to get 2-3 seats

A lot of it going on today.
    No need for it.
They put their names before the people.

I earn more than that and would happily pay more tax if the cost of the living was lowered

Unfortunately dude, your extra tax would not go to helping you out.

    The very opposite...

A lot of people consider the local elections pointless and given the decades of underfunding and centralisation of power you can understand why they would

A very excellent campaign then, in party political terms.
Stick a turnip with a blue rosette on it in Cork NW for example and it'd get elected - everyone can play that game all day.

let's hope the new intake of whatever party are good legislators.

What seems to be emerging, as Teresa Reidy said, is voters just going for the SF brand regardless of who was running. There was a comment about a candidate in Kildare I think who was first eliminated in the locals and is flying in this. The interest will be who they voted for next.

    He's a TD not a tarmac contractor.
But now that you mention it very similar patter.
