Lieo varadgar looks rattled on the tv.
He knows the game is up.
The cats out of the bag and it turns out it was a rabbit.

His comments suggest the next government will almost certainly be FF-FG

They should just merge and get it over with, but that won't happen for another 30 years or so

The people here think the young guy in Galway east might not make it...not sure on others but they look like they might get high 30s out of 42 candidates
I was just looking at that - he's still fairly in the game though I can't imagine Fg transfers are much use to him vs FF

We will see how that plays out. Interesting times and decisions for Michael Martin.

I'd say he's throwing his toys out of the pram at this stage :D

At the moment all of them are in with a chance of getting elected. Mad crazy fantasy stuff.

He will be elected but it will take at least one more count before he is.

If I'm reading this right, he hasn't made quota on 3rd count either:

    Dublin West

O'Brien in Dun Laoghaire is goosed anyway. They'll miss out in Rathdown too.

Looks like Verona Murphy has a chance of getting a seat.

    Noel Grealish looking safe too.

Did he give the impression FF were leaning this way? Jim O'Callaghan and Michael McGrath seemed very negative towards a deal with SF without quite closing the door.

They have never been in government.

    I can't think of anyone.
    Oh in government missed that.
Richard Bruton is pretty popular I think in general.

Oh to be a fly on the Martin manor tonight. 60 seats they said. Be grand they said. 12 point lead in the opinion poll.

Well let's say there is a FFG coalition, they will both have to up their game and give people what they voted for i.e. Housing, Health, insurance, child care costs, squeezed middle acknowledged, and all the millions of other things that SF would be able to deliver in the morning if they could.

I can't see it happening, but the alternative is SFF. That could be fun. The portfolio of Justice might set the cat amongst the pigeons though. That gig is what the Army Council really want, the other policies are just a smokescreen. Forget UI for the moment, no one is ready for it just yet, it's a long term dream with Brexit and all that.

Fascinating election. I don't know whether to congratulate SF or the electorate, but that's democracy for ya.

Hard to believe FG couldn't fix the housing problem. I can understand the health system that's always been a mess but housing. How hard can it be really?
Has to be one of the easiest policies to loose an election over.

So a whole pile of developers gone bust. Restrictions on banks to prevent them lending to developers as they did prior to the crash. Restrictions on banks giving huge loans to homeowners. Lack of construction workers. Tight public finances preventing large scale public house building projects. Unwillingness of those already with houses or mortgages to pay higher taxes to build houses for those that don't. Objections to planning applications for new developments
MLM says she is going to build houses for €135,000 each?

Galway East down to Sean Canney's surplus, any idea where that's most likely to go?

Update: Leo Varadkar is now NOT expected to be elected on the fourth count.

I don't think it was the comments
It probably did her a favour not being in FG tbh.
People can use her as a protest vote

He got no transfers at all. Just around 200 in counts 2 to 4 combined. :pac:

Or we’ll let Sinn Fein in to build the free houses and screw the working class even more than we are already !
I hope ff/ fg let them at it , they’d want to make a better job than they did in the north

Sinn Fein are more interested in building actuall affordable housing for the private(250,000) and rental market than free houses. So yeah it should benefit the working class.
