It annoyed me immensely when we got a letter from brothers of charity services go say there budget was cut and the same day they were bailing out the FAI to the tune of 20 million I hope Sinn Fein brings the country back to reality !

There is something crazy every single week.

That’s such bs. 20 years ago my parents were in their 2nd home by 21, dad worked on a line in a factory, mom stayed at home. Now my partner and I both work( in good jobs) and are realistically looking at a mortgage in our mid 30’s. House prices have gone up, wages have not gone up, taxes have gone up, rent has gone crazy.

It’s easy look down on us from your tower that you probably got on dodge credit, but there are larger issues.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree, a dole merchant getting a house for “free” is blood boiling, FG’s 10% of social housing in each new development policy is a real ball breaker imo. The thing is these people existed and always will in a welfare state.

The issue is simply supply and demand.

And you think this will improve under Sinn Fein?

Maybe, who knows. What we do know is nothing would change with FG.

The odds of a United Ireland are basically nought at current irrespective of whether Mary Lou is the Taoiseach, Tanaiste or neither.

Jesus people are not understanding what this vote means.

This is not about giving Sinn Fein a reward it is a punishment for the rotten political establishment.

SF keep saying the want to work with other parties.

I bet they only want FF or FG so they won’t have to be the largest party so not held responsible for their manifesto.

FG and FF should sit back and watch the chaos that will ensue.

All you propaganda fueled history buffs amuse me, can you all come back here and tell us about the origins and founders of Cumann na nGaedheal, The National Guard, Fianna Fail and The Labour Party? short memories indeed, heck, I think there was a civil war in there somewhere too with 100's of civillian deaths and even severe oppression from a neighbouring empire with partisan policing and civil rights abuses and even a treaty which split opinion, remind anyone of a place from the 1970's-1990's?

Like it or not, 1970's Northern Ireland was almost identical to 1910-1920's southern Ireland. every main politic party on the Island of Ireland has blood on its hands and anyone who wants to argue differently is living in biased ignorance about reality and are the ones with short memories. The hilarious part is they will label anyone who says this as a Sinn Fein shill but history speaks for itself and cant be denied. If you want to bring up history, show us the history of every major political party

It's a sad state of affairs when your choice is between the people who have been riding you sideways without let or hinderence for years or people who haven't ridden you sideways but are kneecapping bastards.

The people under 45 are desperate. If you are annoyed at them, you are probably fortunate.

Look pal we had a democratic vote if you don't like the results there are places on this Earth that might be more suited to you delicate sense of outrage.

There was a democratic vote accept the result and stop throwing a tantrum.

    It wont happen.
Theres still allot of underlying hostility between nationalists/republicans and unionists/loyalists in Northern Ireland.

A united Ireland will be have to be voted on. Not many will vote for it if there is any risk of causing violence. Other's wont vote for it due to the high cost.

A united Ireland would be nice but I think most agree that its up to the people of northern Ireland to make that call and a united Ireland isn't worth violence.

A very simple logic that eludes many here. The aggressive anti-SF campaign over the past week foundered badly, and the toys are well and truly out of the pram.

How much planning did SF even put into this campaign? They didn’t even run enough candidates!!! I doubt they actually want the responsibility of government. They’ll do a terrible job in government, and FG will have to pick up the pieces again.

One thing is for sure what we have had up until point has been an insult to the people of Ireland.

I would not let FFG mind my dog for an hour.

How many lessons does the world need to learn before people realise that socialists can't run countries efficiently. It doesn't matter if SF haven't been given a go yet when their ideaological beliefs are completely irrational. Better keep FF/FG going forever rather than make this mistake again.

I feel like a right tool now.

I gave CNnG my 1 preference.

Hold up, CNnG didn't exist during any conflict. It was founded after the civil war. Phew.

They were torn apart in the local and european elections and in the presidential election last year they came 4th (and ff and fg weren't even running!) No wonder they didn't expect much here. In The UK election they also performed badly as the electorate there was fed up of SF completely failing to achieve anything.

People were voting for SF as a protest vote in this election. A batsh*t crazy protest vote, but protest votes generally are.

Serious question about the entiltment society why do we have open boarders for those from the 3rd world we owe them nothing.

    Yeah, we don't.

FG have done a great job of picking up the pieces.

The youth of Ireland are not too clever but they are angry they have delivered the political establishment the two fingers.

SF will likely have less seats than both FF and FG. It's clear the people haven't really voted for anything definitive

The logic for a vote for SF is the same as the Brexit vote

What are they angry about exactly?
If it was yen years ago, I would understand, the country has bounced back.
So what are they angry about?

That's in the past. Ancient history. You can't hold previous unfortunate events against the Black and Tans. Everybody suffered at that time, and the Black and Tans deserve to be remembered as much as anyone else. This is faux outrage.

If a Black and Tan ran for office here I bet you'd hear all the touts for FF and FG moaning about atrocities. As any sensible person would say, 'much the f*** on'. You'd see that the electorate didn't care about what the Black and Tans did if the Black and Tans promised 100,000 homes. They might need to burn a bit of Cork to make it happen, but you don't get omelettes without blowing up some eggs.

Two fingers that’ll be stuck into their own eyes, ****ing idiots. I thought the Brits were crazy to vote for Brexit, but we’ve actually voted for the crazies. I don’t know, how anyone could vote for that shower of ****s with the history of violence they have. Sinn Fein being put into power by a bunch of me feiners who’ll rue the day they voted them in. The country is ****ed with them in government, absolutely ****ed, and that means we’re all ****ed.

There we go again talking down to people telling them what they really meant by their vote.

People voted we count the votes and get a result and proceed from that point end of story.
