Can I just point out that this thread pre dates coronavirus, so criticism of FG is still valid, and even more so now.

Because now we see that they actually can do stuff, but just couldn't be bothered helping when things were normal.
People were found dead from living on the streets, and FG never helped.

Shame on them,, we will remember this at next GE.

Once this crisis is over it would probably be the best thing to call an election. People can have their say then. In the meantime, probably best if people try to be some way constructive.

Will be a lot of economic fall out to deal with unfortunately. Can’t see an election happening until the autumn/end of the year at the earliest now. But it’s what’s needed, current situation is untenable with all these responsibility duckers wasting time and resources in Dáil Éireann sitting around doing nothing led by MLM with her online vids

Many found dead on the streets were no doubt helped repeatedly but mental illness, alcohol & drug abuse does kill people.

And amazingly SF refused to step up to “sort it” all while they had the chance- shocker there

And at last the current dithering has stopped. All pubs and hotel bars closed. Something that was being called for since last week.

Going to be so hard on those people who have no work now. Going to bring a whole different set of problems. Tough decisions being made.

Aren’t we lucky the election wasn’t six months earlier and Sinn Fein didn’t get more seats?

One of the first things on their agenda was to spend the rainy-day fund that is now so badly needed. Crowd of idiots is what SF are.

SF policies were never realistic but they're in tatters now. We need to do all we can to keep multinationals here or most of the country will be on the dole.

Would have been the same decision last week when this should have been done. Not enough decisive measures carried through logically. Like banning a match but allowing the people to come into the city anyway and spend longer in touch with people.

Are you suggesting that manifestos wrote prior to the election were done with the full knowledge of the existence of Covid 19?

13 billions increases in public spending since 2016.

We are spending more than enough.

We needed reform. Not just throw money at it.

Btw when are all the political parties going to start planning for 5 billion worth of cuts in budget 2021?

I'm a private citizen, I don't write fiscal policy for any party although I would be interested to know what orifice you plucked a 5 billion cut from?

The decisions are being made when they are deemed appropriate. They are taken when advised by the experts. It would seem strange that a poster on boards would have access to more information than them. I know who I would prefer to trust.

SF policies weren't economically prudent..... No thinking of the rainy day so to speak.

Hits home the sheer insanity of their lies and rhetoric. And all it took was a major crisis a month later to highlight the lies. Dreadful irresponsibility, let’s hope it doesn’t happen again

This squabbling from both sides will achieve nothing. I love a good slagging match the same as the next person. Just look at my posting history to see that. But now its time to work together.

Rainy day? They proposed to rip up the rainy day and dance all over the corpse.

They should always be done with prudence and unforeseen eventualities in mind. But not with SF- spend spend spend destroy the economy and to hell with a rainy day.

Of course, the film of the romp in Temple Bar had no effect?

Their experts should have known that greed would have gotten the better of some.

You are spoofing if you are saying this was a 'planned' measure.

The guideline are set out by the WHO/CDC and other expert bodies. The numbers are being looked and measures are being taken depending on those information sources.
Strategy and policy is not being decided on the strength of a twitter/youtube video.

    wow...

The SF one wanted to waste the rainy day fund, just weeks before it was needed for what it was designed for.

Reckless stupidity shown for what it is.

Were you not berating people.the other day for wamting parades cancelled...pointing to.milan fashion week and cannes film festival as reasons to justify critising SF for wanting parades cancelled

    Check yourself bro

(As for rainy day fund, its nowhere near close enough to cover what will be needed and money borrowed to keep country open, will.make SF manifesto look modest,if not austere)

    It's a developing situation.
Randomers on boards.ie aren't exactly well informed Francie.

They wanted to raise an extra 3 8bn in taxes.

Pulling that much out of the economy now would kill it.

    Also:

Sinn Féin proposes that, if elected, it would increase public spending to spend an additional €22bn by 2025.

Yes. Because boards is where national policy and strategy is discussed during a crisis.

Was economic suicide a month ago...now it looks like completely farcical
