Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Taking "the left" to mean those "woke" folk:

Disagreeing that there are endless genders.

Disagreeing that a biological man is a woman (this is not an objection shared by the entire left though in fairness).

Even agreeing with just some points made by the likes of Jordan Peterson.

Saying groups with high levels of crime need to tackle this from within.

Saying Islam has a problem with extremism.

Disagreeing with today's form of feminism (I've been called a misogynist on social media for calmly explaining why I don't like the form it has taken. Me - a misogynist. Hilarious).

Jordan Peterson is a quack lunatic who advocates a meat-only diet and who almost Schumacher'd himself trying to detox in Russia from his benzo addictions in lieu of being treated in the US or Canada. In short, he follows fad diets and he's suspicious of modern medicine, just like the crusties he despises.

Ben Shapiro is a psuedo-intellectual who is great at "owning the libtards" yet went running for the hills once he encountered anyone with any sort of debating prowess. change my mind.

Such as Andrew Neil. Shapiro almost pissed his pants and ran away when Neil was interviewing him. It wasn't even a debate!

No need to... but let's face it, Shapiro is good for showing just how rare it is to find someone who advocates leftist principles, who is also capable/willing to debate properly. Most of those he encounters throw out garbage and are unable to back up their statements.

It is good to see that some on the left (or those in the middle but are pushed into the left) are evolving towards engaging in a discussion/debate rather than calling names, or making emotional outbursts.

Shapiro doesn't do debates. Most of these American right wing heroes don't nowadays. They usually just pick an extreme example of what THEY call "the left" and strawman with it, while talking to people who are of the same mind as they are in so called "interviews".

When they actually come up against a real interviewer whose job it is is to test the validity of the interviewees opinions, they show themselves up a pretty useless most of the time and then they go crying about bias and whatnot.

The Andrew Neil interview with Ben Shapiro was a prim example of this and poor little Benny made an arse of himself.

Never seen that interview before, it's pretty good. Ben suddenly became the triggered college lefty that he so often 'destroys'.

Got very triggered when abortion came up even resorted to the petty "I'm popular and no one's ever heard of you" line in desperation.

Looked to me like he got taken to school by an old dog.

the idea that disagreement with them online is not a barometer of morality

pointing out that full agreement with their ideals or nothing is not a viable method of achieving anything in this world

the idea that not everyone *should* care about the gender preferences of a radical minority

the idea that when they behave disgracefully as a group culture or as individuals, it's no different than when anyone else does it because they are "right"

their inability, following on from above, to accept that *everyone* believes they are right when arguing online

the idea that a society sometimes does have to prioritise the majority over the rights of the individual

the idea that people are allowed to disagree with them- cf any comment containing the word "cesspit" on boards.ie

nb despite them being a pain in the ass along the lines of all of the above, and much more besides, the left are often a force for important progress and are never imo as dangerous a group as their counterparts on the right.

i agree with the general thrust, to an extent, a lot of the time, but almost never their characteristic presumption of moral superiority when doing so

addition: the idea that identity politics or concepts such as mansplaining are profoundly counterproductive and daft

final addition: telling them that yes, you can in fact take offence wrongly, or that your taking offence is not really anyone else's problem

He "debates" with a bunch of amateur, ill prepared, college students most of the time. My point is he has proven that he's even worse than the libtards when faced with anybody with any sort of debating prowess. Look at the titles of the videos with him and Peterson etc.... "woke SJW gets OWNED BY SHAPIRO!!!,". Imagine the circle jerk that would ensue if some lesbian feminist stormed out of an interview after saying "nobody's ever even heard of you"

To be fair, Youtube is full of clickbait titles, and Americans love the extreme drama of such crap.

But I agree that he debates or rather tears down, ill prepared college students with extremely naive ideas. It highlights though the level of what people consider to be acceptable behavior for those on the left, feminists, or SJW. Making a fool of these idiots is a good thing in my mind, because it encourages those who get into such arguments to be better prepared. Regardless of what side they're on.

I don't watch him at all anymore. I watched him a bit about two years ago. Nor do I watch Peterson. Similar time-frame for watching his vids. I've become far less concerned with American society and politics over the last decade as they rush headlong into extreme extremist thought/behavior. I found Shapiro a wee bit interesting the first few times I watched him, but I wouldn't consider either him or Peterson to be good debaters. Nor would I hold with many of their ideas either.
