From the daily operations reports the reports are a day behind for main data and and the cases like today 110 are another day behind that.

Was just in Lidl. Quiet, they have re-enforced the checkouts with near complete protection for the cashier now, very er snug. Still no hand wash, soap only.

In the grand scheme of things we are not doing too bad in Waterford, and with the CMO saying we have flattened the curve and wont reach a peak you would think that we aren't going to get any worse here,Waterford will need to start opening back up very soon and get people back to work, but Dublin will be holding the country back from lifting restrictions.

What is enforcement of the 2km rule like? I need to travel to Dublin in the next few days

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

If you can break across the bridges you may well make it!

Seriously though if you have a genuine pressing reason (and proving it would help I'd say) to travel 100 miles and back you'll be fine.

You will get up to Dublin no problem id say. Its when you get near enough that you might encounter a checkpoint.

Iv just come from kilkenny and not one Guard was to be seen.

I’m sure if you’ve a genuine reason for travelling then you won’t have any issues, if it’s a social visit, then that would be a different story, providing thought you actually get stopped. The checkpoints on the bridge ha become less and less over the last week anyway. No idea what the M9 is like as the furthest I’ve traveled is out as far as ballygunner cemetery

If it's for work then get a letter. If it's personal and your stopped depends on the guard. But if he tells you to go home and you find another way around him and get stopped again then you be arrested and flogged to just before death. If it's not family, medical or work emergency then it's not essential

Nice day today and people seem to be creeping back and making trips out in the car. We had gone down to nothing parked by our nearest beach for most of last week (with some notable exceptions like a camper van driving out of town for a picnic) and now we've had four cars parked down there most of the day.

Unfortunately its the sun that we don't need, when it comes out people soon follow.

Report it, the police have asked the public to help and report these things. It’s keeping yourself and residents safe.

There was between 10 and 12 checkpoints going to Cork and back again last weekend. They'll ask to see paperwork proving you've a valid reason to travel and if not you'll be sent back.
Then again you might get lucky 🙄

Wasn’t the gentleman that passed away last week from a nursing home ?
Just wondering if that was a mistake if you’re now saying this is the 1st nursing home case ?

    15th.
The death – an elderly patient (originally from Waterford), who was residing in a Nursing Home just outside of Waterford -is one of three deaths recorded today in the south, and the first in Waterford.

Not sure either could be read in a number of ways, that that person did say they were trying to contain it. Could it be 1st cluster in nursing home?

How can it be the first in Waterford if the home is outside of Waterford? That makes no sense. Darren says it is the first COVID19 positive in Waterford so there’s only one now so there’s no more to read into it.

In Waterford County outside Waterford City?

The person was living in the City and recently moved to a nursing home in Wexford because no beds available in Waterford so it was counted as a Waterford Covid-19 death. Now there is a first case of a nursing home resident in Waterford. Pity Darren dont explain in full where the information comes from.

Agreed it’s very misleading but I would say it’s happened in a care home in Wexford so it’s a Wexford case in terms of stats. If all cases reported was of where patients are from it would give a very false impression, location of where the infection was picked up is the key stat.

Because he came up with the headline he wanted then twisted the facts to suit it. Pretty standard News & Star behaviour. Their front page at least has no credibility anymore.
