It is too soon to predict all this second wave activity. We are still on the first wave technically. Its not as if the virus has gone anywhere, only to re-emerge months from now in another assault. This is still the first initial wave and we are nowhere near that fading away as of yet.

according to the experts, second waves are an almost dead cert unfortunately, but it probably is a little too soon yet

just have to hope the health service is ready for the 2nd wave

Massive test in the next few weeks with more places opening up again

The hospitality rules are a bit of a mess and think they will be overflowed with people wanting 'a pint'. Few places on Facebook have outlined the plans for reopening in terms of booking slots of 105 mins and choices etc

I cant see it myself either. If Harris and Holohan had their way we would never go outside our houses but thankfully we are slowly opening up. No way they will shut anything down near Christmas. We cannot afford to do this again.

It all depends on testing and track and trace. If we are getting quick tests and quick results it should be possible to corral the virus with localised quarantines. Phase 1 was all about keeping people away from the virus, phase 2 needs to be about keeping the virus away from people.

Otherwise we are screwed. As you say, we literally cannot afford to do this again. We haven't the money and people won't have the inclination.

Take a look @ this story from the UK today

    https://www.thejournal.ie/uk-beaches-major-incident-thousands-flock-to-beaches-5132991-Jun2020/

This is one minor reason why this pandemic has quiet a bit to run yet. Especially if we continue to let
people from the UK come & go over here as they please.

Ah the money can be created easily enough, but the conservatives won't allow enough to be created, they ll start panicking over the deficit as soon as the government gets up and running, and do their normal thing of reducing the money supply by paying down the debt, austerity and tax increases etc.

They can create all the money in the world if they want the problem is that the money never filters down to the ordinary joe soap and it is us who inevitable suffers with tax hikes, negative equity unsustainable debt and the likes.

Would Fianna Fail like to preside over another massive financial crash? I doubt it so maybe they wont be as quick to shut things down......but then again they are just as bad as any other political party here.

Let's hope this virus fades out quickly, we find a vaccine and if those things dont happen quickly let's hope whoever is in charge of the country uses some common sense if another wave happens.

It really is a pain in the arse having such close relations with one of the most negligent nations on earth.

As an aside, how could anyone enjoy themselves on such a crowded beach?

What do you mean if Harris and Holohan had their way? If they didn't follow this step the same people would be saying the government aren't doing enough. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Do you want us to go down the American route and have massive rise in cases?

Ah now lets use some common sense here and not start suggesting what others are saying.

If Harris and his buddie had their way they would still have us on full restrictions which is clearly not required.

I supported the initial move to try and curb the spread of this virus but as time went on it was clear there was no need to keep our country locked down and under silly 2km 5km 20km restrictions. The proof is there to see that the clusters were in nursing homes. No need to ruin our economy for years to come just because.

Thankfully the political leaders started seeing some sense.

As for comparing us to America........yeah i dont think so. There are so many variables which means we could never be compared to a place like America and to be fair im sure you know that already. Sorry but that was the usual over hyped argument with those who think this virus is more than what it is.

If you return from London you enter self-isolation for two weeks. So how did this happen?

The answer is in your question, self-exclusion, it’s not enforced

Look at the amount of uk reg cars and camper vans around, you think they’ve all self isolated? Let’s not kid ourselves

Quite a few irish campers about last few weekends. Usually see them parked up at kilmurrin

Hilarious! That house is a tardis! Fair fecks to the gards. Was that 61 or 71 out -I lost count.

For this our national policy is to discriminate against the over 60’s getting a bed in ICU & for this our elderly are being let die alone without
family or friends in locked down nursing homes :(
