Edible shelter belt

Guys I'm thinking of hedging to act as a shelter belt.
I'm on a mountain on the west coast so subject to the storms.

I'm looking for it to be edible.

Any ideas?

Mountain on the West coast subject to storms my thinking would be to plant anything of interest that might survive rather than setting your heart on anything too specific. Personally, I like sloes for gin and cooking, and elderflower for pancakes and wine, either of which will grow anywhere. If the soil is acid you might get away with wild blueberry (fraughen) which are real mountainside foraging and very tasty. I've tried and failed to grow them myself but you might have more luck.
