If don't have your own place to live or can't provide them with the living conditions you'd like then why have kids?

Because they think having kids will get them bumped up the housing list

Look, teenage pregnancy happens, if that happens and you have no place to stay maybe hold back or use contraception. What's missing in the story is the whereabouts of the father(s) . The social system is there for people in a hole, not people in a hole who dig themselves in deeper every day.
Btw a common theme in those stories are people in their 20s already 10 years on the housing list, like they never even tried.

Margaret Cash went straight on the housing list when she was 17 years old, 11 years later she never worked a day in her life (apart from going out on the rob) and has shat out 7 future welfare leeches

Serious genuine question are you stupid?

I just said I worked and the people either side of me worked.

You try turning that attitude towards any other group and see how you get on.

Posts here saying we should be housed nexts to prisons I have no relatives with any criminal records stupid and uniformed jibes.

I should be interned away from the capital all go under the radar here and yet I have a moderator chomping on the bit to ban me.

Jesus Christ some of you people are just toffy nose snobs.

Well don’t read it then ! Why don’t people get it ur not entitled to free everything in life because u open ur legs or then again maybe u are !
Don’t bring children into the world bar u can feed them and put roof over there head , it’s very simple most ordinary working people seem to understand it !
1 or 2 children is most they can provide for unlike the social that can fire out more unwanted children ! Ffs

Here is another paradox. Why is it that the people who are the least burden on resources pay the most tax? As a successful person who funds his own lifestyle, like medical insurance and private school fees.
Why should we pay tax at 40% plus rates and your only paying 20% or less with handouts and subsidies?
Shouldn't you be paying 40% plus and the contributing members of society pay 20%? That seems like a much fairer and proportional system.

    No children not hooked up.
Work my ass off yet cannot afford to get into the private market.

No Police or criminal record no handouts in my direction.
My earning power has been slashed by the race to the bottom by employers that is a fact.

Have not been able to raise myself into the middle class due to a disability.

I am sure there are many more like me yet all we get here is bile.

If you are a young woman on welfare you are financially incentivised to have children.

It's a broken system that needs serious reform.

We have a pension crisis coming but we are also adding an entire generation of children of welfare dependents, many of whom will also be welfare dependent because they will know no better. The standard set by the parent is passed to the children.

Between both it's going to bust the state sooner or later.

People like me have seen their wages slashed by 25% or more since 2008 to fund greedy business and support open boarders this is not even taken inflation into account.

I get no private health insurance or sick pay like I use to.

Sure if any more is taken off the real working class why work?

So in the last 12 years you haven't tried to re skill or up skill your current set of qualifications. And yet to still seek to offset your situation onto others?

    support open boarders

Ah, here we go. "Dem for-dinners!".

You'll find anything and anyone to blame for how you've allowed yourself to get left behind in one of the most prosperous nations on the planet.

I have no issue with social housing but don't believe they should be housed for free in estates where neighbours have spent small fortunes to buy the there houses

Social housing isn't free. You pay rent based on your wages.

What do you do that is worth so much to society may I ask?

How do I seek to offset anything what bull are you talking?

I am on the Autism spectrum breaking into new social circles is just not practical.

People doing service jobs can not afford to get into the private market in Dublin unless loads of stangers bunk up in the one apartment like many non nationals do.

If everybody is subject to the open market that person selling you that bottle of pink gin would have to be on twice the hourly rate.

Are you prepared to pay at the checkout?

It wasn’t any ‘loophole’ to begin with, and ending it did nothing to reduce either legal or illegal immigration. Either way - it’s not a thing that applies here.

In the years prior to the referendum, 58% of all asylum seeking women over the age of 16 were pregnant upon making their application for asylum.

We were known as a soft touch for a few years after, but word got out that our laws had changed and the number of asylum seekers coming here drastically dropped off(it was circa 10k per annum in 2005).

Absolute bollocks, what do I do you ask. I manage a business that employs over 1500 people locally. As for your Autism again absolute bollocks, my wife has Asperger's and still earns a mid 6 figure salary.
Life is what you make it, not who you can blame for your misfortune.
And am I prepared to pay at the checkout? My 40% plus plus tax rate more than covers that already.

No im not taking the piss. Everyone i know in social housing pays rent to the council based on their wages.

You do know social housing isn't just for those unfortunate enough not to have a job right?

Says it all that when Immigration checked ID before passengers could get to passport control, the Albanians, Georgians and so on have melted into the mist.

Good call. Was scam almighty. So was previous. But at least it is being tackled now.

There is 33 million or so arrears in DCC now from Social Tenants. That's grand and those earning and paying taxes are funding this. Not good really.

    Easy enough to check.

    https://www.thejournal.ie/social-housing-rents-4399149-Dec2018/

"All social housing tenants are expected to pay some level of rent. There are, as in the private sector, tenants who do not pay and who build up arrears. The total arrears countrywide at the end of last year was €73.6 million.

But that figure has to be viewed in context, as arrears are carried over from one year to the next. At the end of 2017, Dublin City Council’s arrears figure was €23.4 million but it had started 2017 with incoming arrears of €22.5 million.

Some councils have much lower arrears than the average – in Westmeath for example, there was a 97% rent collection rate in 2017. The council finished the year with €6.2 million in rent collected and €201,000 arrears. "

I'm all for bashing the social/affordable housing gig, but lets be a bit balanced about the whole thing. :D
