So with Man City being kicked out of Europe, would this not be the perfect chance to use that spot should they finish top 4, to revive the FA cup?

Should City finish top four they should give the spot to FA cup winners rather than let it go to 5th. Every team would have to take the competition seriously then and could reignite the magic of the cup.

In the last 30 years only 3 clubs outside of the current "Big 6" have won the FA Cup (even then Everton + Portsmouth weren't exactly plucky underdogs when they won it). Wouldn't the fact the big teams keep winning it suggest that they already take it seriously?

Champions League rules state that spots are filled by top league positions , Europa League rules are that only Cup winners go into that if cup winners are already in the Champions League or Europa League then that cup spot is transferred to the next best in the top division

The FA Cup is the victim of the success of the premier league and European competitions.

A gimmick like a champions league place for the winner will not solve it's problems.

Make it all upfront. Give teams before the season starts the option to stay out of the cups. That way nobody can whinge about replays, dates etc.

That would literally be the opposite and ruin the cups.

Gerrards comments on City are a bit pathetic. He’s pretty much challenging the PL to go take the 2014 title off City. He always comes across as sad and bitter.

Bit ironic him calling for it at Rangers.......

The FA Cup cannot be resurrected.

Its been dead for a long time now.
