It feels like watching a game on RTE

This is better than watching a game on RTE simply because there isn't some gimp sitting next to Eames in the commentary box talking sh*te. I hate co-commentators. Every game should have just one commentator like this.

(And there has been a few glitches. Not your internet. Overall really happy with it so far though)

Hopefully no pitch side interviews while the matches are going on too :pac:

What's the streaming thing . Can I just throw it on a smart telly somehow ?

Harps have brought in Stephen folan. Strange (but good) one unless we lost someone else, wouldn't call him a straight swap for Shaun Kelly

would not judge hugely straight away - there could be 'strange' results especially early on. Different practice/preseasons could catch teams cold.

I'm giddy that football is back tomorrow. Can't wait.

I know we're probably still sh*te, but 5/1 for a Rovers win at the Brandywell tomorrow seems too good to pass up given the circumstances.

Seems like it's upscaled to 1080p and not natively 1080p.

Ronan Coughlan has really developed into a good player. Works so hard & has quality.

He joined from Cork as well. More shocking transfer business from them.

looks like the extra weeks Derry had made no difference.

Really strange that John Russell wasn't involved in any of the warm-up games but he's the first option off the bench. I thought he might have retired..

Watching Derry v Sligo now, and Derry are absolute muck. Sligo, on the other hand, are quite impressive; I hope they stay up.

Currently dreaming about us going on a mad run and qualifying for Europe and being able to afford a front 3 of Romeo, Junior and Coughlan next season.

Truly awful from Derry. Huge win for Sligo. The bottom 4 will be very interesting in the coming weeks.

Very happy with the stream quality and commentary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,050 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Well that was depressing.

I have said it already, there a a relegation dogfight on the horizon for us.

No creativity, no threat up front.

Sligo keeper didn't have a shot to save.

Yeah I was impressed to with the whole package: commentary, multiple cameras, decent bandwidth/scalability, and great value, plus it all goes to the clubs, split evenly. Fair play to them.

Stream was class. Really, really hope the numbers add up (financially) and it can be permanent. I have serious doubts they will though :(

Video is great but they have to stop f*cking with the audio. Sounds like they tried pumping in crowd noise from a German stadium at the start.

Popped out at half time and caught a report live from the ground on 2fm in the car. Whoever was reporting from the ground was saying the crowd noise was being played over the PA system at the ground

The first few minutes of the game were awful audio-wise as it was so loud you couldn't hear anything else apart from the crowd noise. I'm thinking maybe they messed up the audio channels and the PA system was hooked into the watchloi stream because it was ridiculously loud. They disabled it after a few minutes and the audio was perfect then.

Eames on commentary also mentioned that Derry were pumping in crowd noise over the PA.

edit: Derry/Rovers is up on catch-up instantly. Very nice that there is no waiting.

it should be offered as part of a ST package or as an incentive/reward to members or patrons of clubs. It has a lot more of a future and a lot more use of footage than waiting on RTÉ or even eir sport to show a game or highlights is relatively 19th century stuff.

The scheduling might need a tweak here or there in a compressed regular season with games on Fri/Mon and European game delays...

Even from last year, Jamie McGrath is a huge loss for them.

Pats should be in front, but they're not when they've been on top. Dundalk to win 2-1 or 3-1 you'd feel towards the end as the pressing drops, perhaps with a penalty.

The main stand actually looks worse empty

McElney injured & just calmly walks off & sits on the bench like its another day at the office

Didnt seem to care at all. Was a bit odd

Curious to know how much their wage bill has gone up since then? Anyone know?

Not a great start for the teams who started training earlier than everyone else

Have the LOI released a date of when they hope to have fans back or is that still up in the air?

Up to the government. At the moment you're not allowed organise an outdoor event with more than 200 people at it including players coaches media etc

I don't think anyone knows exact numbers but I'd take a stab at around 30%

But as they have got that enhanced Champions League money for winning 2/3 league titles since then with an inferior team up against even more inferior opposition then everything probably balances out financially, until you are dealing with a pandemic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

New lads look decent for us, surprised others havent signed similiar wth FIFA waiving the 2 club rule.

Disappointed after that so thats a good thing :)

Home teams doing poorly... Feeling no fans? Never went well when pro14 had home finals for the top seed but neutralised the venue.

On another note, Keith Cowan is gonna have to change the name of his new podcast (allergic to silverware), just won the Irish cup with Glentoran. Ciaran O'Connor set up the winner, Patrick McClean (mom) and Gavin peers still going too, came on for the last few mins

    Cheers thanks.

Just watched the Irish Cup final and Glentoran were allowed 250 fans in on the terrace. Householders could stand right next to each other with their groupings being all well spaced apart. It was good to see some supporters there rather than nobody at all.

There was 500 at Windsor last night.

There'll be 50 ST holders at the Showgrounds on Tuesday night for our game against Waterford and another 50 for the Shels game a few days later.

It should be a lot more than 50 allowed given the size of the showgrounds and it being outdoor. Restaurants have more than that in them most evenings.

Shame to see Tolka so empty. Was there any indication of when LOi teams might be able to have a few fans back?

I’d love to get a game in this year if possible,

Anybody else having sound interruptions on the web for the shels game?
