Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm sure he is a nice guy, but that was never really the issue people took with the appointment. He's probably the most under qualified coach the league has ever seen and he's managing the current champions. If Ollie Horgan left Harps tomorrow, Filippo wouldn't even get an interview in Ballybofey.

He's been given an opportunity thousands of coaches with his CV could only dream of. If he manages to be successful there'll be a book written about it.

maybe its like on Fr Ted where they wanted the worst act to represent Ireland at eurovision as it was costing the country too much to run. Dundalk don't want to win the league anymore so they get this guy in to mess it all up. seems like a mad decision to bring him in after talking about robbie keane a few days before.

Shams stream link for tomorrow night if anyone is interested. Costs a tenner. Con Murphy on commentary.

    https://shamrockrovers.ie/livestream/

Probably would have bought it if it was a fiver but I'll probably make do with a betting stream instead.

Bohs are also streaming theirs for a tenner.
    https://stream.bohemians.ie

But it's also on Hungarian TV available free and legitimately here - https://tinyurl.com/y4q5xds4

Most under qualified ever? That's debatable. There's been many who've been appointed before who have never played professional football in their life and that will bring...something. You'd like to think he's also seen things during his career as a coach and learned some things. But I agree with your point overall and I think it's being fairly covered in the media as such. It's utterly bizarre.

It's clearly a placeholder appointment. For what? Take your pick. I think the Green List thing definitely played a big part, but moreso, it could just be Peak 6 drawing things out with this appointment to assess their next move.

It's a huge fall from grace for the club though. Even if the guy turns out to be a success, the supporters shouldn't relax.

Not buying the green list as an excuse to hiring him. For a placeholder appointment they literally had 3 more potential managers already on their books in Reynolds, Keegan and Gill who would do better than this lad

Its like a plot of a made for tv Disney film. A manager plucked from managing a kids team in the states to go follow the dream and manage in Europe. Lots of high jinks and mad cap antics guaranteed

The first ‘turmoil’ that I can recall happening Dundalk was in 1968/9 when the Fox era came to an abrupt end. The ‘Fox era’ as was known is still fondly remembered by us oldies

    http://www.dundalkfcwhoswho.com/player.php?id=240

We had three league titles ( in total) when it ended. By the time we won our 4th
Waterford had 6, Bohs had 6, Shels had 7, Rovers had 10, Drumcondra had 5.
We bounced back before , we’ll bounce back again.

    Could rival the Sunderland one.

Seen a good point earlier. He has as much experience managing senior teams as Vinny did, and as o Donnell and Morris before they got their current gigs.

Its mad but we will see how it goes

Same experience as me managing senior teams as well, but I've a lot more experience in providing instruction to senior LOI players so....
    For example:

"Gid rid of the fùcking thing you stupid fùck" - artanevilla, at any number of LOI grounds when a Bohs player gets near a ball in their own half.

Have I got this right: 3 teams who lost in the preliminary round of the champions league qualifiers qualify for the 2nd round of the Europa league?

Yep their unseeded so will be drawn against teams who lost in first round. Then open draw between the rest.

After this round winners coming from here will be unseeded and teams dropping down from champions League will be seeded

One suggestion was that goalkeeper Gary Rogers should take corners as he’s the best kicker of the ball

Before a recent game, a team was submitted from the owners’ side of the club to Perth for consideration. It included 11 outfield players and no goalkeeper.

It’s the silly season, and papers have space to fill.

I normally watch the cricket at this time, but it’s hard going without the crowds, especially the West Indies , Pakistan, Australia crowds etc for the colour and joy the bring to matches.

Matt Doherty possibly on his way to Spurs. Bohs have a 10% resale clause of any transfer fee if it happens

all wolves paid for him was £75,000. all LOI clubs should have similar sell on clauses attached to any transfers to the UK.

All well in good, but they need to pay up. Shels still waiting on money from Ipswich for Adam McDonnell I'd say....

Yeah, some of the UK clubs don't like to pay up or pay the solidarity fees either.

Surely to God that can't be true, but Dan McDonnell did hint at some crazy things going on but didn't go into specifics, he is as reliable as it gets when it comes to LOI.

Not seeing anyone in that current Spurs squad that is swapable for a similar 18m value that would be even close to Doherty's level at RB or in any other position for Wolves

Rovers need to find some scoring boots tonight. You'd feel confident if they can score that the defence is good enough, but the Shels and Pats games were poor for creating chances. Good time for Burke to get back involved.

Both coming off injury and no one deserving to be dropped for him.

Bohs are shocking at clearing their lines. They have the entire pitch to aim at and somehow they always manage to kick the ball straight to the foot of a Fehervar player.

It's down to composure, bohs lacking any when in their own box defending... penalty was a prime example

I have no idea how he put it that wide. I thought youd have to break your ankle to make it go that direction from a side foot

Good effort from Bohs but they will rue that Ward miss in the second half.

They were fortunate to have an advantage. The decision to order a retake when Bohs missed one was shocking. The keeper still had a foot on the line well after the ball was kicked.

I don't know how the linesman can mess up the one job he has in a shootout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

Thought there was a whiff of McGuinness being off his line for his save. Casey's peno was a textbook example of why most centre-halves will never be let take a 4th penalty and that run up by Twardek was only asking for one outcome

  • Registered Users Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Zico !

most of the time you can tell whos going to miss by the run up -twardick ya he was always going to miss

Decent showing by bohs to be fair, the keeper looks like a child between the sticks for the penos though

I think the European results will show the league in a poor enough place at the minute

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,196 ✭✭✭MonkstownHoop

Didn't fancy either taker tbh. Casey looked like he was ****ting himself walking up. Completely snatched at it.

Thinks Burke's goal was good but I barely seen it the stream is choppy.
