    Utter c*nts.

There is something uniquely despicable about terrorist attacks (and non-terrorist attacks of the same nature).

They are relatively easy to carry out - snuff out peoples lives without any warning - where they have no way to defend themselves for being taken by surprise. And all done for their own personal gratification.

I don't have the words to describe what I think of people like those.

They are complete scumbags tbh. Evil to their core be it far right or Islamic or whoever.

How long before a warning in post one about no speculation?
It always turns out to be the very thing we are not allowed speculate about.

Normal people just out to trying enjoy themselves and this what a nightmare for the relatives and family.

Why do you mention far right?
How many attacks have the far right carried out?

People murdered for the countless time yet again and you are more worried about offending those that have carried out every other attack like this.

    How many do you need?

In Germany there were the synagogue shootings last year, the 2016 Olympia mall shootings in Munich, elsewhere in Europe there were the van attack in Finsbury park, the 22 July attacks in Norway, to name a few.

I'm not keeping score. It's just a point i made that all these extremists are utter scum.

According to the Guardian: "The Hessenschau regional broadcaster said two shootings had taken place at two separate shisha bars but that has not been confirmed by police"

I won't say it. No need really...

"How long before a warning in post one about no speculation?" What a strange first comment/thing to be concerned about.

And how is the OP showing they're more worried about offending those that have carried out similar attacks?

In fairness the German police are very slow to reveal details on these types of attacks but in this circumstance it seems they are busy searching for the suspects.

Any idea on motive? Reports that death toll may rise.

No motive yet. Some talk it could have been a drive by type shooting but like usual with these things early speculation should be taken with a large grain of salt.

The Hanau police have released a statement (here, in German)

The Guardian has translated it as:

"As we just reported, there were gun shots in Hanau on Wednesday evening, around 10pm, in which several people were injured. According to the latest findings, the police can now confirm that eight people were fatally injured. The search for the perpetrators is in full swing. There is still no reliable knowledge of the background. The criminal police are still asking for information under the number 06181 100-123."

Maybe the police should give out descriptions it might keep people safe and help in a faster capture and arrest.

Of course would be very helpful if they knew but maybe they don't know. Let's hope they catch the/these asshats asap.

People are very quick to demonize the right, as if the left can or have done no wrong....

Most of those attacks mentioned were anti-semitic in nature or not politically motivated. It's a leap to say they were right wing attacks.

Gunmen still on the loose according to the German police. Would be fairly worried they haven't finished their killing spree i'd say could be headed to a different location.

The vast majority of all terror attacks are Islamic that is a raw fact.

However evil is evil and whoever did this is evil filth.

Stick and stones will break bones calling bad names should not hurt you but bombs and bullets will kill.

The families on the dead never get over these kind of deaths.

Both attacks were supposedly in close proximity to shisha bars, my first thought was that it might have been motivated by economic competition, or maybe someone who had been banned from every shisha bar in the area with a grievance to settle. I'm not even being satirical here.

Words are useless in this kind of situation.

What makes my blood boil is all energy should be put into preventing attacks.
Nothing can be done for the dead but Jesus there is no end to it.:(

Would shisha bar customers be mainly of Turkish ethnicity? If so, it should narrow down the list of possible suspects.

    Not your ornery onager

Police say special forces have chased the suspects into a two block square area and the police helicopter is being used. Sky News.

Bit odd the lack of TV news coverage on this.

Oh just another terrorist attack - noting to get too excited about. Seen it all before. Part of everyday EU life.
    And now the weather.

Yeah CNN for instance zero about this 90 minutes after it happened. Bizarre. If Trump puts out a tweet about it they will be all over it though

There are some reports now (Bild) that a man has been arrested, but that hasn't been confirmed by police yet.
