I don't really think you see it. I think you think you see it.

I see real travelers. 90% of them seem like normal people.

50% of people who sulky race are settled people anyway.

Why do you think horse racing and dog racing is cruel?

Do you think dressage and showjumping is cruel?

Dressage can give a horse way more injuries than showjumping in some ways. Far more likely to go lame.

I think that dress would suit you.

I think others just saw 'TRAVELER' and lost their minds.
No, I have seen a bunch of travellers drive their vehicles along a dual carriageway, forcing people off. The latest along a motorway is just as bad.

It's obvious that you support the travellers endangering other people on motorways and dual carriageways.

Why not attack THAT instead of travelers and their horses as a whole?

Can you point out exactly where I have done this?

Its entirely relevant to what you have just said.

    It's in no way relevant.

I doubt you would get any in the videos I posted that would think a weanling is ready to work.
    And?
    SKILL MEANS EDUCATION.

Most abuse is through LACK of education. Partic the things you have mentioned above. That's all lack of education.

I'm not sure any amount of education would teach them that blood on nails is wrong, and that threatening a vet at gunpoint is wrong. Education would help those who want to be helped, but it will not help what I've mentioned

I don't know why YOU can't see the connection between skill knowledge of horses and better treatment of animals. But there you go.

Where in the world did you get this from?!

I saw a smashed truck and a horse almost split in two last year only up the road from me. Traveller owned, zero prosecutions. I can point you to at least 3 or 4 places right now within ten minutes of me where you will see sick and sore looking horses, outside in all weather conditions. You only have to subscribe to any of the Animal Welfare pages online to see these on a DAILY basis.

You're utterly deluded if you think travellers "care" about their animals, they have animals for one reason, to make money.

I've managed to rescue several dogs from halting sites that were riddled with mange, malnourished etc putting myself in danger to do so.

You're living in a dream world where you think the animals are treated well, I'm sure some are, but for the most part they're absolutely not.

Why do I think horse racing and dog racing is cruel? Go do some research for yourself, watch the RTE documentary on greyhounds, educate yourself a bit. You're a permanent troll here on boards, if someone says something is black you'll be on within a minute to say it's white. You're insufferable with your barstool talk, "90% of the travellers I meet seem normal"... like what is this, you're a total spoofer, the ultimate troll, an absolute gob****e and you're going back on my ignore list.

50% this, 90% that, never have I encountered such a spoofer on boards in my near 20 years here, all barstool talk, no substance a shyte talker.

    Good luck to ya.

Clearly yes. I support all the killing.

Clearly that is what i am all about.

    Must kill all humans.

Clearly i hate horses. I saw some horses do something bad in Limerick.

    -_-

I don't support traveler bashing. Even if it comes from middle class people pretending to be animal rights activists.

You're utterly deluded if you think travellers "care" about their animals, they have animals for one reason, to make money.

So you think all travelers are just scum then??

    Clearly you are sane.

I am ignoring the bizarre personal abuse.

I hope you have better mental health.

Quote the bit where I said all travellers are scum.

    Quote it.

You're a ****ing numpty. Crawl back under your rock you insufferable gob****e.

Almost every single one of your posts.

I have also seen shelters where they let people too big for ponies ride them. I have seen animal rights activists complain about crops in a video where foals are tethered and weanlings are being ridden.

But they don't KNOW these things are bad. They think crops are bad.

Its education and skill. And when i see these things ..i usually feel i can trust that person more.

I am sure there are LOTS of people settled and travelers who shouldn't have horses. I don't think i want to promote further hatred of travelers...just because you SAW something bad a traveler did.

I mean if i hated everyone ...because i saw something bad one of their people did ..i would be like hate all people.

Lets hate all men because weinstein.

Your posts are completely all over the place, Vibes. You're equating things that are not equatable and you seem determined to drag the thread off topic.

For the record, I'm neither middle class, nor an animal rights activist. Stop acting like you're the only one here that knows anything about horses.

Clearly if you have friends who harness race you should recognize brilliant pacers and single footers.

Be honest if they were on a track you would still hate them and think they were scum.

Also in most news reports it appears at least half of them are settled people.

Why not try and encourage them off the roads and onto the track? That is if you are certain they are not on it already.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,182 ✭✭✭✭ILoveYourVibes

What about the other countries that do it?

Are they scum or is it just travelers?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,312 ✭✭✭✭Thelonious Monk

Except seize and crush every single one of them.

Well that's never going to happen

    You are right it's not.

So how are we to get them off motorways and onto tracks?

There is a sly movement to equate all travelers with animal abuse in this thread. Its not on.

Whether or not I recognise them is completely and utterly irrelevant to the topic at hand, which is why I'm not replying. I have no idea what it is you're hoping to achieve by doing it.

Yes, I will still think they're scum... which is why I still support the harness racing community  (sarcasm, by the way).

At least half? Where are you getting that stat from?

They're not going to. Why would they? The ways and means to do so are already open to them, so I'll ask another question: why are they continue to race on dual carriage ways, and they aren't using tracks?

There's a 50% chance what ILYV is drinking is 90 proof. The repeated attempts to derail the thread would be laughable if the topic at hand wasn't so serious. And Travellers treat horses with callous disregard for their welfare.

Most people contend it is exclusive to Travellers, but Ireland’s Sulky Racers disproves that. About half of those involved in road racing are from a settled background. Their preference for trotting on back roads and dual carriageways often lands them in trouble. Horse owners and drivers have also faced a public backlash following accusations of animal mistreatment and cruelty.

Considering tracks now have races just for paints only...i would think its logical that travelers are partaking. Its not going to be allowed for you to have a race for one kind of colored horse otherwise. That would be weird. And they are only a recent addition.

In some cases, Traveller men have taken their own lives because of having to give up their horses, he said. “It’s literally life and death,” Connors said, adding that settled people also participate in racing, particularly in urban areas. “Where I’m from in Darndale there’s even more working class, settled people involved than Travellers.”

It's their problem to find somewhere to practice their barbarism. Why do people expect everyone else to hold their f*cking hands the whole time?

pretty sure some travelers are into it too

I told ya they was good!

Earra, it's not the same without full road width convoys of untaxed Transits and Avensises in front and behind with a load of obese pavees hanging out the windows with their phones roaring "g'wan Pa, boi!"
No character nor thrill factor to the organised races 🙈

In my experience, 100% of them.

Martin Danneels, who also directed the recent Reality Bites film Born Addicted, has crafted a terrifically absorbing and genuinely eye-opening documentary. An unexpectedly moving one too.The film explodes the myth that all sulky racers are members of the Travelling community. “It’s about 50-50 between Travellers and settled people,” says Eddie.Another of the men (they’re not all impulsive young bucks with more testosterone than sense swilling around in their systems), Thomas, known as “Clarkey” to his friends, runs a funeral carriage business.

He provided the firm’s services for free to the grieving family of a little girl who died aged just four.

Ave Sodalis you may bow down and kiss my hand now. xx

Its clear from a documentary source and about 3 other news sources that are mainstream that is about 50% settled people.

So are these settled people scumbags too?

When it gets to the point where you're trying to use my own words to make an argument against me, you know you've no hope of recovering any sort of decorum and respect for the argument you're making. I take it you haven't read the criticisms of that documentary, so?

Also, was that some poor attempt at a personal insult? Where am I seeing red?

youll likely be replied to with a link about a time a settled person abused a horse or an interview done by a traveller advocacy organisation with a traveller who keeps a horse to the required standards, thus de-railing your argument or whatever else the militantly pro traveller posters would have you think.

Or another wonderful post about how darndale also has people abusing horses as if that area was the moral standard the settled community holds themselves to or wishes to aspire to.
