Snow not due until early morning so no need to lamppost watch tonight

And from tomorrow morning the sun will quickly melt anything that does fall. We had probably 6-7cm here early this morning yet by 2pm you could see the grass again. Still lying snow anywhere that was in shade all day but anywhere that got even an hour's sun is long gone.

Tomorrow night probably the best chance for any worthwhile lying snow but even then the usual Atlantic caveats apply!

Looks like there is potential for some locally more significant falls in places tomorrow - particularly later tomorrow. Big showers.

Been watching this frontal zone approaching the south/southeast over the last few runs and there is a chance of more prolonged spell of snow overnight Wednesday but it depends on how far north the occlusion is thrown.

Actually some evidence on some sleet/snow on the grass in Galway city this morning.

Met Éireann mention that too but have it as rain/sleet and skimming the south coast. Their text forecast seems to have snow mostly over high ground it seems.

Sorry, I don't do fence sitting :pac:

For me it's win or lose, sink or swim, do or die, tayto or walkers, sausage or pudding, bacon or eggs.... :pac:

    It's gonna snow

As we were told.. " Wait and see"!

Rain here. Bitterly cold. Y;day there were still three small snow patches atop a far mountain but no doubt they will be washed away.

    SO COLD!

Would expect some volatile showers in this very cold flow, uppers get steadily more conducive for snow to become the main ingredient in any showers, and rates of precip falling from cloud to ground will tend to favour pellet types of precip, so don't be surprised anywhere in the country later today to be near or in brief but impressive wintry showers. They will tend to develop more frequently after a few hours as the better uppers arrive (at some point late afternoon or early evening thicknesses near or below 516 dm). This won't be confined to only higher ground but it will be hit-or-miss enough that regional forecasting is difficult, luck of the draw with lines of showers moving rapidly across the country.

I am not that pumped about the Wednesday late south skim thing, usually those turn out to be extensive high cloud and a few spits of drizzle at the Kinsale energy platform, but hey, this is the best week of the year for snow, right?

Showers seem to be packing a punch alright. Hopefully will be a few of snow later when conditions more favourable.

    Sligo Town.

7.15am. What's it like outside Mintsauce? Ah just a light dusting on the car windscreens.

8.00am. Light fall of sleet. Does not add to dusting.

8.15am. Light dusting on car windscreens, is actually frozen on, and very cold out. Could we get a snow event yet?

What’s different about the next shower?! Really don’t expect anything until late afternoon.

Pretty good particularly this evening and overnight. Hard to be specific in showery regimes but you will get something....how much? Dunno.

Snow level is dropping now all the time. It's almost at sea level in the southwest (inland).

Precipitation here of the wet and chilly kind.

Dew points still too high for snow IMHO. Temps are about 3 around the place (certainly here in Munster) so you'd need dew points of -2 or below methinks. current dew points are as per below....
