Why didn't China close their borders entirely to prevent the spread?

Why didn't China close those absurd food markets years ago?

    All hindsight.

You are claiming the leadership of Ireland is "stupid" because they didn't entirely seal off the country from the rest of the world at the end of January. Yet no other countries did. So again, with 20/20 hindsight, why are you singling out and attacking Irish leadership?

Their reactions haven't been perfect, but to suggest that they completely closed down all borders at the first sign of the virus on the other side of the world is a stretch to put it mildly

I can’t say why they did not close their airports. We forget though the outbreak was mostly happening in Wuhan. After this is over, a world forum and discussion is needed to sort out this event.

Chinese will have to open up and admit and be clear what took place here. The Wet market explanation right now reads like a cover story.
Why do countries, accept guidelines that lot of people identified made no sense? Be brave and just do it and close your own border?

The virus spread to Iran after China. How could it be ending up in Iran if was not a human to human disease? Why did we wait for a month to start a lockdown when cases broke out in Italy? It was commonsense how the virus would get here from mainland Europe! Closing down air travel was the obvious thing to do at the time. So yes i blame leaders.

It's nothing to do with "bravery". It's to do with massive economic fallout and critical shortages. Closing borders to all trade and commerce means shelves could dry up in weeks.

Borders are still not fully closed because most economies simply can't function under such a scenario. And only recently have enough test kits become available that screening of cargo/commerce is potentially possible in some situations. And even then the disease can still be transmitted.

Have you missed whats taking place now? The bulk of small businesses have closed down.
Estimates coming in- 600,000 people working before have now joined the dole queue in just a few weeks?

The budgetary impact be much smaller by just stopping people going on holiday to Europe! Commonsense leadership.

I never said we should stop all trade and all shipping. Do you read?

We recognize now,  the first Covid-19 case, was a person, affected in North Italy on holiday, and then that person came back on plane to Dublin airport.  All this could be restricted the first week of Feb.  Irish leaders did not want to close down the airports.  Even though we could see Northern Italy had a considerable outbreak.

Robert Kennedy Jr dropped info online. Fauci?

The Daily Mail reported that it has uncovered documents showing that Anthony Fauci’s NIAID gave $3.7 million to scientists at the Wuhan Lab at the center of coronavirus leak scrutiny. According to the British paper, “the federal grant funded experiments on bats from the caves where the virus is believed to have originated.”
Background: following the 2002-2003 SARS coronavirus outbreak, NIH funded a collaboration by Chinese scientists, US military virologists from the bioweapons lab at Fort Detrick & NIH scientists from NIAID to prevent future coronavirus outbreaks by studying the evolution of virulent strains from bats in human tissues.

Those efforts included “gain of function” research that used a process called “accelerated evolution” to create COVID Pandemic superbugs, enhanced bat borne COVID mutants more lethal and more transmissible than wild COVID. Fauci’s studies alarmed scientists around the globe who complained, according a Dec. 2017 NY Times article, that “these researchers risk creating a monster germ that could escape the lab and seed a pandemic.” Dr. Marc Lipsitch of the Harvard School of Public Health’s Communicable Disease Center told the Times that Dr. Fauci’s NIAID experiments “have given us some modest scientific knowledge and done almost nothing to improve our preparedness for pandemic, and yet risked creating an accidental pandemic.” In October 2014, following a series of federal laboratory mishaps that narrowly missed releasing these deadly engineered viruses, President Obama ordered the halt to all federal funding for Fauci’s dangerous experiments. It now appears that Dr. Fauci may have dodged the federal restrictions by shifting the research to the military lab in Wuhan. Congress needs to launch an investigation of NIAID’s mischief in China.

I've often wondered why do conspiracies, hoaxes or call them what you want HAVE to be disproved.
If they are loopy conspiracies why aren't they just ignored? Seems like a contradiction to me.

They are not loopy theories to certain people. Alex Jones has millions of followers

They can also have harmful effects e.g. people are burning cellphone masts. Some medical conspiracy theories as we know are outright dangerous.

There were threads on board.ie to close the airports in Jan. It is not hindsight. Just our leaders are too afraid to act, they are followers, listening to bad advice.

    Afraid of what?

You are chastising the leadership of basically every country in the world for not fully shutting down their borders in January. On 20th January, China was reporting it's 3rd death and 200 cases.

What I fail to understand is the military state 1984 comments followed by they should have closed the country down..... Surely had they done that he'd have been the first in to complain about the government controlling us.... So?? I don't know the disconnect is insane...

Conspiracy theorists don’t answer direct questions. The best you can hope for is a link to some random YouTube video.

Ireland first case was the 29th of Feb.
You believe nobody could have predicted this?
Yet in late Jan there was threads discussing the closing Irish airports!
If posters on boards knew, why is it our leaders could not see what was coming?

Closing down an airport to passengers coming in and out, it not freezing the economy and there no lockdown of cities, towns and villages. We still be functioning as normal

    You aren't understanding the question

You claim governments were afraid to shut borders in January, what were they afraid of?

If you can answer that you'll understand why no country shut down their borders.

Closing down airports doesn't stop the virus. You have to entirely seal a country and test every single person to set foot in the country, and wait for the test results (and those certain test results can be erroneous). And such action has a critical economic impact, not to mention it simply wasn't possible in January. It's barely possible now. Covid cases are still entering China.

I am pondering CIA involvement in China and any motivation behind disinforming the White House since December 2019. They may have been having a nice Christmas, but if Trump can prove he was poorly advised it is borderline treasonous behaviour?

As a CIA mole operating in China surely it would be their responsibility of feeding back to Langley their assumptions and observations on the virus? There must be several teams of undercover sleepers active in China. Why did they not communicate this home?

On the flipside if they can prove that they were updating the White House correctly it is a serious issue for the Oval Office. President Trump had been writing off the virus as "just a flu" all the way through January and February. Like him or love him he is not stupid. Surely he would have to be acting or responding on the information he was receiving? He either was disinformed or simply chose to ignore any CIA intel he was receiving.

It could get very tasty in the next few months. The president could get nasty if he gets put in a corner. It could also be that leading executives in the White House regime are cornering him in to taking drastic action, if the virus does not recede in the US and given the 3,000 victims in China ( population 1.4 billion) it is highly likely that his hand might be forced into drastic action. I don't think he is a warmonger, he has had 4 years to pull the trigger and has not done so yet, why start now? But he may not have the option … or … someone in the US defence department has gotten cute with him. If that is the case we could see the potential of a serious CIA official being accused of Treason. Can you be executed in the US for federal crimes?

Fake news and incorrect, biased reporting.

Dave said it was indeed physical, but hollow-ish (aka hollow-moon theory).
    Very unlikely all the same.

It does however have some very interesting reciprocal math locks between the Earth & Sun, it's exact position and size may just be flukes.

Alex Jones did get some things right. Predicted an attack on American soil a month before 9/11. Catholic clergy sex abuse and most recently he was all over Epstein years before it came out.

Obviously he's been wrong on much of what he said. Any shred of credibility he had went after Parkland.

The corona virus medical information 're treatment theories is fascinating. In short not one doctor actually knows what works. The initial theory that early intubaion was necessary for patients with poor oxygenation is now being queried in New York.

It's the same with the medications. No one knows if HCq actually works. It's safe to take in a hospital setting but should not be prescribed in the community.

Will be another couple of months before the RCT results come out and they will be very interesting

Did he? He "predicted" a government orchestrated terror attack. That was standard alt right rhetoric at the time. He didn't mention the twin towers or airplanes from what I remember.

Here are some he didn't get right. Garden variety conspiracy theories.

Martial Law seems to be one that everyone trots out every year or two.
