Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

“If we have to sell, there’ll be an even bigger homeless crisis”
Is she selling them (potentially to another landlord) or magicking them into thin air?

County councils do NOT want to be landlords end of. They got out of bin collection , want you to renew your road tax on line. That's the way it's going

Like it or not, private landlords are providing a large amount of the social housing. It’s not their fault that the local authorities fell down on the job!

You absolutely can get hap if you are working. French fella single guy I work with gets 400 euro hap. He's on a lowish salary but still. Should we be propping up people like this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,005 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

it seems to me that renting is a massive pain in the hole in this country, from both sides , unless you get sound land lords and tenants.

Used to be, for years on end, that a quarter to one third of your income went on rent.
That's long gone, but it was a useful yardstick.

If he wasn't working he'd probably be getting €1600 hap.

Her point is that her costs are rising, her tax bill will probably rise under SF but her income will remain the same cos of the rent freeze.

So the government heavily subsidises the private landlords and then claws it back in tax. Seems fair enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,011 ✭✭✭DoctorEdgeWild

They are her properties, she should be allowed to charge whatever she wants.

Let the government provide the freebies.

She has 36 properties. What about my pension? Woe is me.

Does anyone here have a 1 property they can sell? I've none.
