Yes a 133 km/h gust at Mace head for those who don't know what a knot is (like me).

    1 knot = 1.85 km/h = 1.15 mph = 0.51 m/s

I know but i can gauge it in my mind because I rarely deal in knots.

I think to see the real effects of these storms you really have to be right on the coast...I notice during past storms in Galway it was not bad just a few miles inland..but then right on the coast it was full blown storm...there is a huge difference in wind strength just a few miles inland with the majority of storms

I will let you know :)

I will be walking my dog along the shore West of Galway when the rain stops.

Just had a thankfully short power outage.

Part of my farm is on an island in West Connemara, driving along the island this morning even directly on the coast the shelter effect of the hills across the bay was very noticeable. Where they were calming the wind the sea was dark with white tops, but once the shelter was gone the sea was bright green, what I had mistaken as a shower from a mile or two distant was water blown off the waves.

Yes but we don't do British Imperial units in Ireland. 36.943386 m/sec would be acceptable in this country, however. :P

Oneiric, didn't want to quote all the graphics but do you put much stock in that flash ICON? It's basically saying three hours of much stronger winds than presently around Clare-galway. What is meant by "flash" in this context?

near claregalway, nothing out of the ordinary, reckon its only a red for the coast.
