Also, just to point out. There's an unreal amount of flooding along the N84. With a red weather warning, if people hadn't already done their shopping it was wise to get in before the storm to do it incase it blocked the road. Particularly wise since one of the other options for those in North Galway would be Aldi and Tesco in Ballinrobe and there's been a diversion in place for over a week due to bad flooding on the Neale Road.

As stated already though..account for those who usually go into Galway on a Saturday afternoon all deciding to get in before the storm. A lot of factors to create a bigger crowd before the storm than usual.
