Dublin have gotten away with nearly throwing away this game.
Kerry still seem very dependent on Clifford - when he gets going is hard to stop.

They are but he's very difficult to mark. Despite his sainthood in Kerry, he's a cynical f@cker when he wants to be.

Penalty...you could see it coming a mile off! **** it!

Good man Philly. Always a penalty

Seemingly it was a dive and warrants an Oscar by some lads. Some lads need to lose the green n yellow glasses

Philly had to give away a softer one.

This will feel like a victory for Kerry, coming from 6 down to draw with Dublin.

Very annoyed with that for numerous reasons. That peno given away than was icing on cake.

Not like Dublin at all far to slow didn't turn up for second half.

Were we playing for the draw that last minute?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭rolling boh

Pity could not hang on poor from Philly defo peno with the rules but at least we did not lose would have taken draw beforehand never thought it was over earlier but we all know you have to keep taking scores as much as you can up the dubs .

Kerry will believe that they can beat us on any given day. Truth is they were virtually full strength and we gave squad players a run. We did get sloppy when crusing though. Anyway a good run out. Kerry are very poor at the back. 4 goals conceded is not good.

Philly had 100 on the draw😉

I hate watching former greats when their legs have gone and struggling when under pressure. Reminds me of watching Jayo in his last days.

Although I think Philly has a place on the panel to guide the younger lads, that type of thing. Maybe get him involved with the minor/u20 lads?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Kerry will always have belief any team to beat them will have to rack up a good score they have a lot of talent in the forward area with the new rules anybody touched gets a free so if any body drops off the pace they will come back and score .

Yeah, and they didn't adapt when Kerry started to apply pressure.

Yeah Kerry will rightly be able to spin it as cracks appearing in the Dublin team/panel.

Dublin switched off not usual at all. Normally the subs raise the level or keep it going.

Kerry are definitely decent if Clifford is on song. Thankfully for Dublin, Kerry at the stage where their backs are not household names. If they were I would be really worried.

Main worries from today would be the impact of the subs (obviously Rock and Mannion will add depth), and the lack of distance point takers.

Think kerry knew we didn’t have many willing to have a pop from 30/40 yards and let us have possession. On the flip side once we broke that line we tended to create goal chances handy.

4 goals and a draw with Kerry while playing our worst half in a good while isn’t the worst place to be, though.

Really disappointing from Dublin in that second half... I missed the final 10 minutes but they were not playing savvy football.. didn’t seem to be enough effort from players to support their teammate in possession.

13 scores over 70 plus minutes of football... four goals but only 9 points over 70+ minutes of football...in that second half we didn’t get into the Kerry 45 enough.

A big factor too was Hurson just enabling Kerry to foul at will...arm grabs, shoving Dublin players to the deck so they can’t turn or take possession cleanly, often we didn’t even get the fücking free... Kerry players should have seen yellow and black cards reigning down on them....and resultant reds...

The quality of officiating is something that needs addressing in the GAA.. it’s really gone to shîte...

Dublin should have been much more savvy in that second half but still...

Kerry seemed fitter than us or at least more willing to put in a shift. I've rarely seen their forwards work so hard to win the ball back and it unnerved us a bit.

    Strange game all in all.

    ...

Hasn't Mannion left the panel? It's unclear whether he has retired permanently or is just taking a break, but my understanding is that he won't be available for Dublin this year.

Strange game, if philly isn't as rash Dublin win

Let's be honest Mc caffrey, Howard and mannion are huge absentees

Kerry are coming but still didn't win

You’re right. Completely missed that one.

The more I think of it was similar to the first drawn game 20 years ago in Thurles.
In that the better team on paper were coasting by 7/8 points up and for some reason switched off and got clawed back.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Old cliche but the league is just the league

Both teams will be happy enough

Dublin won't be as sloppy on a dry day in croke Park.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭hunter164

Paddy Small isn’t good enough imo. Way too reliable on the left foot.

We pretty much enabled that draw for them... some not so smart play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭rolling boh

We certainly seem to be running a bit short on subs unlike a couple of years back so it looks likely we will have to get our best 15 or 18 players injury free if possible if we do we are still very much there .

Just be thankful McCarthy still has legs under him, but that won't last much longer, the mileage that lads clocked up is fierce.

You can be sure the net is closing on Dublin but the knockout championship IMO makes them harder to beat. Added incentive this year for a few them win a 9th medal would cement their legacy
