Showers turning increasingly to snow in Letterkenny, I'm stuck working from home for the foreseeable so it can snow as much as it likes tonight!

Good attempt at snow here, stuck to windows facing west and to the sides of cars.

I've been pre-occupied with everthing else that's been going on these past 24 hours and just taken a look at the charts for the first time in 2 days. We are definitely on the verge of a major pattern change and the possibility of some colder weather, also major hints of a SSW event that would smash the PV into bits, crippling the pattern we've all enjoyed so much since September! Interesting weather watching to come.

If a SSW takes place soon, it'll likely be close to or after we enter April before effects are felt here. At this point, long lived disruptive snow is extremely unlikely. Similarly, we'll also be at a point where we could encounter some rather warm weather. Will all depend on where any potential easterly is sourced for. Could prove very interesting.

Rain and snow and a vicious wind blowing in Bray, feels like a January night out there.

A dusting of snow in Letterkenny again tonight, think that's the 10th time since late Jan we've had some level of snow cover but only one of those ten managed more than a dusting. Hopefully this is the last till next winter

Just had a bit of a snow shower here now near Castlebar. Started off as a mix of hail/graupel. Was driving through the hills above Castlebar around teatime and there were some heavy wintry showers up there that left a nice covering on the hilltops.

Classic case of ninja snow here too in Dublin 16. Big fat wet flakes and sticking for a while. Kinda sloppy but the best display I've seen this winter* tbh.

Interesting night you have all had. As far as I know, no snow here but a cold wild wind. Just seen the orange warning too. That was a surprise.

It feels bitterly cold in that wind too! The ice is melting quickly too.

A dusting of snow from a shower late last night. Its a pity the shower activity died off after it, otherwise there could have been a decent covering by this morning.

1 degree Celsius above zero in the night and snow on the hills today morning in Dundrum.
I know we have wormiest beginning of the year in the history, but I really miss worm weather like above 10 degree Celsius.

Plenty of snow on Dublin Mountains this morning + torrential rain this evening.

It's been the longest winter ever + now we are in practical lockdown.

Great close up drone footage here of (what looks like an F1 or F2 at most) tornado. Really get to see the chaoticness within the tornado itself.

Edit, meant to post this in the convective thread, but no matter. Still a great video.

Very interesting video. I did a good number of of storm-chase tours in the US Midwest back in the early noughties and this brings back the memories,

including some hairy moments when we were a little too close for comfort.

All blessedly quiet this morning. There is something very lovely and intense about the silence after a gale. Quiet with no wind and no rain.

Lovely day today, usually stuck at work on weekdays and all our weekends have been a washout recently so this is the first day I've been outside (totally not dossing from work!) and felt some real warmth. Trees and bushes starting to bud as well, hopefully we've seen the back of winter now
