The heat is stifling tonight. 21C at 9pm is notable. Surely convection has to kick off later!

Gerry Murphy surprised me about how confident he is of these showers and thunderstorms kicking off.

Have to agree with you he showed rain over the Southern parts with lightning but when he ran the radar you could see the rain dissipating almost to nothing and not a lot showing, be interesting to see what happens

I wouldn't be overly worried about rain-radar returns yet. These storms will be elevated anyway. Visibility of lightning will cross a wide area now that its getting dark.

Radar here shows the Celtic sea precip well: https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar

Max Temp 26.2c today. Currently a sultry 22.7c and cloudy with an RH of 77%

Plenty of fuel for the showers once they hit shore.

Gonna head out again and hope for the best. was talking to a couple in a camper down from the north and the husband was looking forward to a good lightning show

19.7c and a dewpoint of 17.8c here in south Laois.

Took a bottle of water out of the fridge and there was nearly as much water forming on the outside of the bottle as there was within the bottle! Such is the air so laden with moisture.

I think there was a flash of lightening off Dunmore East...? No thunder so it may be well off-shore.

Went to Portrane to see if I could see that activity but visibility at sea is poor. The Kish light was barely visible where usually it's perfectly clear

Saw several distant flashes off the coast now to my south east. Looking at Blitzortung suggests due east of Arklow
