Yes, but no sparks/no storm at the moment. Just heavy showers.

Status Yellow - Thunder warning for Munster

    Met Éireann Weather Warning

Looks from the met radar that Cork City will be missing out this time :(.....who knows though, might be a rogue shower turn up :)

Warning doesn’t start until 3. Bit early to be negative yet. Will be hit and miss though it seems.

That strike at/above Mungret woke us up in Castletroy all right - the flash woke me, then the fast/long/loud rumble completed it.

Nice to get a hint of the Po Plains again, at home :D

(self-reminder - take down the radio antennas again tonight; 10m vertical poles with sharp tops wouldn't be the best things to have up this evening/tonight...)

Looking very dark toward my immediate North and North East, in the direction of Kilcock. Looks like something is brewing.

    Edit: Seems to have evaporated

Currently 22.6°c in south Laois on the AWS which reported a max of 23.5°c after lunch when there was some sunshine about. Mostly cloudy again. Dewpoint is 19.1°c but maxed over 20.0°c during the sunshine!

Still as muggy as yesterday but without the sun. Temp is currently 24.0c with RH value of 84%.
Maybe slightly less favourable conditions for a repeat of last nights storms but we will see later.

A few cells in the south Irish Sea trying to get going now. The larger one is heading towards Gorey. A couple of smaller ones are about 50km south of the larger cell.

There's also some convective cloud beginning to build immediately south of Holyhead - nothing of note at the moment but something to keep an eye on.

Hopefully that big cell off the coast will get things going. So muggy in mid cork

Not much happening at the moment, the trough crossing the Southern half of the country does not seem to be too active , maybe some imported weather from the SW of the UK or crossing from Wales becoming active again in the SE later tonight ?

The gfs handled this current scenario very well. It was never gone on too much convection and was showing more bog standard rainfall for today.
A model that's often ridiculed by those on NW yet again modestly excels

Calling her 'it' will only add to the stress during storms. Give your girlfriend a break man.

Large enough and active cell moving in a Southwest or so direction from North West Wales, currently destined for South Wicklow or North Wexford.

For the record detected sferics from the 12th and 13th August 2020. Again from reports it should be noted that only a fraction of lightning strikes are detected on the maps but give a good idea of general areas of activity and storm tracks .

Look like could be a few in there, hard to see with the angle, to me they would have more a towering feature to them, hard to see from underneath. Pic below from the World Meteorological Organization International Cloud Atlas.
