Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quick question. Can you get Virgin Media 360 TV if you don't have Virgin Broadband? If you have a different broadband provider ???

    - No you must have Virgin Broadband.

My box keeps dropping internet. It’s very annoying. The main virgin hub is up, but the TV 360 box is showing red with no WiFi. I’ve 20+ devices using wifi and I’ve been told this is too many for the virgin hub, so I’ve invested in a mesh network. I’m hoping this improves things. The TV 360 box just keeps loosing its connection for me.

Do your mesh hubs have ethernet ports? I have a TP Link system and have my Smart TV & the 360 box both connected to the hub by Ethernet, it's working perfectly.

I've had my 360tv boxes since December (I'm an insider lol). We had Sky Q in the living room with virgin BB, and the horizon in the bedroom. Since getting the 360, not only did I stop using the Sky Q but i cancelled it altogether when the contract expired.
The responsiveness of the box, the speed of navigating menus, the replay tv content and voice control are all fantastic in my opinion.
You can also cast to the main and bultiroom boxes from your phone too which we didn't even know in phase 1 of the trial

    Hi Antomus Prime

We've been with VM 20 yrs, We changed to the horizon box only, (no BB bundle) about 6 yrs ago. From the start It's giving alot of trouble, most annoying one is having to reset series link every 4/5 episode😡 VM have replaced it 4 times and same issue with each replacement. Besides I know it's not just us that's having this problem, other friends and workmates are too.
I enquired about the new 360 box and assumed because we already have the benefits of the on demand movies with TV players, reply function and Netflix with horizon it would be a straight swope but yunfortunately not, its only available as part of a BB bundle 😡 I don't need broadband, is this correct?
    Apologies for long query

As far as I know, you have to have Virgin BB with the V360 as a package. They only give it out to customers using Virgin BB.

Just have the new box for a month. Was watching a recording last night and it froze.. powered off overnight and now no light or anything on it. I am so sorry signed with them for a second year, was with sky for 14 years and never any issues whereas it's one thing after another with virgin
Already was without tv for 2 weeks as they messed up the switching from old horizon box to the 360. Just came on here to rant . Tbh the box was great when it worked. I predict many hours lost next week trying to get them to sort it. Also any idea why they charge more the first month? They said to expect it but couldn't explain why

Hi, I hope I'm not derailing the thread, but I've just been told by Virgin that their Virgin 360 service is not available on a main thoroughfare in Kimmage, and that it is not possible for them to offer me anything better than my existing 15 year old DVR DCI6221 scart only box (the predecessor to the Horizon box).

75 quid a month for passable broadband, and TV box that is not fit for purpose.

I was told that my options are to remain on the existing package, or just downgrade to broadband only.

    Could that possibly be correct?

It's possible your area needs upgrading and for one reason or another this can't happen.

Enniscorthy was like that for year except there was no BB either.

I'm pretty certain that if I were a new customer they'd be be able to give me a box that works.

What available services does their site show when you put in your eircode?

It's a possibility one or more of the Neighbours won't agree to new cabling for an upgrade.

    It shows:

    Television

    Digital+

    HD

    Virgin TV

    Broadband

    Home Phone

The only one shown as unavailable is "on demand TV".

The box I have doesn't even have a HDMI output, so how do they provide other customers with HD TV?

Can somebody with "The Big Bundle" Pack - 50+ channels (22 in HD) confirm if Sky Comedy HD is available as it's not listed on the VM site https://www.virginmedia.ie/bundles/broadband-tv-phone/ (€62)

I noticed the SD version is available on the old "UPC Value" Pack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,760 ✭✭✭Delta2113

I don't like the fact that lately when you press the home button you get a advertising screen for recently Jack Charlton film and now Horse Racing instead off being able to still see your current channel.

The HD label on Sky Comedy is in a very deep blue, very hard to see unless you look close to the screen. But it's definitely there in the guide.

    - Did you kill power to the 360 box for a minute or so and then power back up and try your recordings again?

It's basically a mini computer which can and will go odd from time to time.

Hi I’ve upgraded from Horizon to VM 360. I received the equipment this week and have tried to self install it today. I disconnected the Horizon box and connected the hub & tv box but it will not connect to the internet so I can’t get any tv. The hub light starts up white and then turns red. I have switched off, unplugged, checked all cables are in the correct places for both the hub and the tv box but nothing. I’ve ended up reconnecting the Horizon which started up immediately with internet etc straight away. Can anyone help me with this - I’ve just wasted 2.5 hours of my life this morning.

You will need to contact Virgin Media Ireland. If your Horizon is still working then your 360 is not activated. Don't waste anymore time.

If you want a laugh look up "Animal Emergency" that's on tonight on VM1 at 8PM on your 360 box and they have a picture off Georgie Parker who presented it's namesake from 2008 in Australia.

Fair enough I'm sure all the graphics are automated or whatever but the fact it's a Virgin Irish show tonight you would think it would have been checked and manually amended.

Line of Duty on RTE1 also has this series graphic which is wrong - again manual intervention needed. I could go on.

Got the new 360 Virgin box and have it connected to TV and Denon AV receiver and noticing the sound is very low.

I have an android box I use for streaming and the settings are same for both and the sound on Android Box is grand. All connected up with HDMI cables However watching recorded program on 360 box last night and had to pump volume up to 60+. Not sure if its specific to certain channels as seems to vary.

Have not gone into any settings yet is there anyone who experiences the same and is there any settings on the box that I need to change re sound or anything else to check?

A few people have said that the sound is lower than the old Horizon Box,you have to raise the volume a bit more, also when using a receiver on the V360 box in Audio Video settings, where Dolby Audio is make sure you select disabled as that's a louder volume than the other two settings and still gives Dolby Surround anyway which virtually all programs are broadcast in anyway.

Have Denon set up as ModeDTSSurround (This mode can be selected when playing sources recorded in DTS.)

    Same as for streaming

Other options not sure if these will fix it?

Nothing showing in DTS on the V360,or anything digital except a couple of 4k shows.Id Normally leave mine in Dolby Surround which is compatible with most shows. But you can try DTS surround and any THX modes whichever you prefer. They should upconvert stereo to Dolby Surround which is what all drama's are broadcast in.The Dolby Audio setting is very low on the first two settings so I use disabled which is all that's needed and is louder than the first two,it plays everything in Dolby Surround, which is perfect.

Dolby PL 2 Cinema should do it,and give the most authentic sound. If you don't think that sounds right just leave it in Dolby Pro logic, but Dolby PL 2 Cinema should be perfect, that's what I would use.

Watching champions league on network 2 but can't get surround sound working. Sounds seem to be coming from TV.

Not sure if it's amplifier settings but had old virgin box and didn't change anything and was working with that.

Anything need to change on 360 otherwise need to check amplifier settings

Went to box settings and can change Dolby Audio to follow content and sound increased but still no sound from speakers. Tgen change this to Always convert and decrease in sound but still no sound from speakers.

    This is watching rte 2

    Update

Changed sound setting on receiver to multi channel stereo and sound coming out from speakers now

The sound on the reciever should be Dolby Pro logic 2 ,or Dolby Pro logic, whichever it supports, otherwise I would imagine multi channel stereo is playing the same sound to each speaker,so voices would be coming from all speakers where they should only come from the centre channel. Also on the V360 in Audio Video settings, set Dolby Audio to disabled,as the other two are for digital content of which there aren't any,and disabled will set to upconvert stereo to Dolby Pro logic which is the correct setting as virtually all programs are broadcast in DPL 2.

That's just the recommended installation standard. I've my superhub in my bedroom and 360 mini box in another room upstairs and my 360 main box downstairs both via wireless - working great.

Was having the problem as mentioned, but your advice there has most certainly improved things. Just need to keep working on it.

Should say ,bought a new laptop and TV and installed them the same day,so had lots of low sound problems.

Have 4 boxes and none weired to the (black) hub

Yes for live linear Tv you need a coax connection to VM outlet box.

I tested this suggestion yesterday evening. My TV360 Dolby audio setting was 'Follow content' .The UK/IRL channels were showing locally produced chat shows and documentaries recorded in plain stereo. But Fox HD (VM 126) was showing NCIS and my Dolby AV receiver said it it was getting a Dolby Digital signal.

I put my ear to my centre speaker and could hear dialogue but if I followed your advice and disabled Dolby Audio on the TV360, every channel reverted to L+R stereo and there was nothing coming from the centre speaker.

Do Virgin never broadcast BBC in DD5.1? Only DD2.0? My receiver via the Horizon box certainly flags the HD channels as DD. BBC used to have a mix of 5.1 and 2.0 when I last had a feed off Satellite but that was a few years ago now.

If you disable Dolby Digital audio you need to set your receiver to use Pro Logic or whatever its called on some newer receivers. I think my Denon calls it "Dolby Surrounds". Then the center and surrounds will work.

My point exactly,if the reciever shows Dolby digital go to follow content, and you should have surround sound but for most others leave it on disabled as the majority are in upconverted stereo which is Dolby Pro logic 2.When I left mine in follow content I wouldnt get any sound at all so it's disabled for everything or follow content for Dolby digital content.

A few years ago I remember getting Dr Who in Dolby digital 5.1,not sure if it's still the same, the tech is there to broadcast in dd5.1 but I don't think they bother.

My parents got a letter today to say Sky Sports won’t be available on their current boxes any more. They have the old digital Hd boxes (not horizon).
I contacted Virgin as wasn’t sure which of their boxes etc and turns out it’s all of the ones they have (they have 3).

My Dad has early stage dementia and finds learning new tech hard - are the 360 boxes easy to use?
With the mini boxes can you record on those boxes as well as the main one?

They’ve offered the mini boxes at half price with everything else at full price which seems a fairly bad offer but wanted to find out about the box a bit before I go trying to negotiate any better offer. Not even sure if they’ll do any offers but worth trying.
