Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If your Dad can work the digital boxes ok then the 360 should be fine.

All your recording is done on the main box and then you can stream your recordings on the mini boxes.

I presume your Dad has Virgin Broadband as you need this for the 360 boxes.

Thanks for the reply. He can just about manage the normal box so that’s great to hear it’s not much more complicated. And perfect you can get the recordings on all the boxes. Actually sounds like a great system.

Yes he has virgin broadband as part of the current package.

    Thanks again!

One good thing is the 360 box actually can be controlled by the old D4A remotes. So he may not even need to us ethe new remote for basic stuff.

Oh that’s great, presume that’s the long remotes for the old style dvr box. He’s well used to that, and wil only use the basic functions so will even be better not to have a remote with loads of options. Thank you!

I'd recommend going with the 360 remote from the start. You don't need to use the voice function if you don't want but long term to me it will cause less hassles.

Have the 360 box 10 days now, night and day compared to horizon box, faster and more responsive. Few issues all the same, picture drops out fairly regular and screen goes black for couple of seconds and then comes back and today some channels not working and getting "channel failed" error messsge. Anyone having similar issues?

    - Something is not right. I'd give it a few days and if still the same ring up and get a Tech out.

i don't have the 360 box but I was having similar problems yesterday and today. I don't think it is a box specific issue.

I would really recommend that you ring the loyalty number 061 272190 and you should get a much better offer than just half price on the extra boxes.

We tried that last year for an older relative of mine who has Horizon, broadband and phone and they offer was pretty poor, given she’s been with them and their predecessors since there 1970s.

She’s planning to get Virgin taken out where the contract’s up and go with something else. Seems they really annoyed her with the poor loyalty offer.

Think it depends who answers in loyalty. I do it every year for myself and have done it previously for them as well but theirs at offer is gone a few months now. It’s worth a try anyway.

Whoever it was really played a hard bargain with her. I think that’s just annoyed her. She brought up Eir TV and they told her that it was unreliable and just Internet streaming etc and really slagged off the product.

So I think she’s likely to get free sat put in, as that’s what some of her friends have.

Just got the new 360 box - if we wanted to add multi room down the line does that mean VM adding a new point on the wall for it to work? Or is it wireless in anyway?
3 story new build - main box and VM point is on the bottom floor. Toying with the idea but not gone on the idea of drilling the external walls at the moment.

Multiroom boxes need a coax for TV. TBH I use the app a lot these days instead of a multiroom box.

I had the same issue on my 360 box. “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford was listed instead.

    Hi folks
Does anybody know if how you can rewind more than 3 minutes?
I know you can watch from start, but some programs disable fast fwd.

    Cheers

Same here, I have seen it a few times on Virgin Media where the guide data is wrong or has errors . When the Eurovision final was on Saturday the guide listed it as the semifinal

Seems to be a few logo's have been updated.

TCM movies disappears when I log in.

Hopefully they put the channel number back in with the logo's like it was years ago, I use this page for my what's on, its not always easy to find the station you want when you find something you want to watch.

It looks like they are adding replay TV to the online guide.

Got the 360 box today, it's so much better than the horizon box, the remote control is beautiful and a joy to use. Well done VM.

  • Registered Users Posts: 101 ✭✭Shamrock 64

I see they've disabled the ability to record the six o'clock news on series link, which was handy, you now have to record each episode each day.Yet the nine o'clock one still has series link on it, they'll probably do that one next. Also no replay option on rte2 for the Euros, pity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,760 ✭✭✭Delta2113

One o'clock news also still has series link.

I must say the lack of consistency with regards RTE and the replay option - it seems to vary from week to week. Not acceptable to me when you are paying for this.

Had to manually intervene to get Casualty recorded last night on BBC1 - in the past I have been impressed with how they have updated the guide so quick with last minute changes.

The lack of fast forward on RTE is a disgrace but that's RTE pushing that.

BBC4,CNN,CNBC really need this stuff in HD. GB News available on www.gbnews.uk/watchlive as a work around as not yet on Virgin Media Ireland. I doubt if I'll watch it much. Watched Darren McCaffrey the other night on The Tonight Show and it was obvious the new 'slant' from him with his new employer.

This is probably a really stupid question. I'm terrible with technical stuff. The TV usually doesn't play live tv. A notice comes up to say 'check the cables'. Thing is, the TV is far from the hub and entry wall socket. Does the blue tipped cable need to go into the 360 box to get live TV?

As I understand it you need a feed from the co-ax cable into the box to get live TV.

A co-ax cable needs to connect into the tv box.

Just looking ahead on TV guide and from Thursday next Fox HD says channel no longer available, another one bites the dust, yet the prices keep going up.

Compare and contrast with the amount of channels (and the relatively low price) for our UK cousins.

We are subsidising them and their bigger TV channel selection.

Fox closing isn’t VM’s fault, Disney has changed strategy and Disney+ is now it’s outlet for all the stuff that used to be on Fox. It’s closing in the U.K. too (exact same channel).

Liberty now only owns 50% of Virgin Media U.K., it’s now 50% owned by Telefonica since the start of the month. They are going to be doing their own separate things in the future and the Irish operation may end up sold to someone else. It’s not like Sky where the U.K. and Irish operations are completely integrated with each other.

Liberty owned 100% of VM before and still treated the irish as second class citizens.

The horrible thing about a lot of these and other companies is that they treat the UK and Ireland as one geographical unit when it comes to management, but then give the Irish a dumbed down version of whatever they are selling in the UK, add on a few extra quid, and tell us how grateful we should be for getting it in the first place.

+1 no different to what has been happening for years with the likes of cars. But it's not always the fault of John Bull or Johnny Foreigner.

For years, right-hand drive cars manufactured for the UK and Irish markets were produced to different specs, usually with goodies like electric windows and/or A/C omitted from cars destined for the Irish market.

In each case, the decision to under spec the Irish models would have been made by the Irish distributor. Who knew that we were prepared to pay the same or more for an inferior product. And we did.
