    I think I'll pass!

    Why
That is a superb TV show :P

After a week of being let down with multiple different excuses for my order being delayed, my TV360 box (and minibox) arrived yesterday. Quite impressed so far. The interface is responsive, a major improvement over the Horizon box. The fact that the one remote will control the TV360 box, the TV, and the Soundbar is a great bonus.

Only one minor niggle so far. I can't find a way change the program jump interval when pressing forward/backward. On Horizon, you could change this from 30secs up to 5mins (I think). On TV360, it seems to be fixed at 30secs.

It's made by Humax who are a polish company it seems. Even has the exact model number on it but there's pretty much no record of it anywhere...

I'm hoping someone will figure out how to make it work but with how much the new box improves over the old, I can live without it

Humax are a Korean company and a have an extremely good reputation as a maker of satellite set too boxes.

Good man!! Sure nobody on a TV thread would have known that..

Yellowbucket was correcting a previous post which suggested company is Polish.

I for one am greateful for that post.

The record has been corrected, I think we can leave the discussion on that point at that.

I was hoping to have my new box by the weekend but no joy as yet.

Just wondering for people who have them now, do you need new cabling for the boxes? I was told over the phone that you do but not sure.

I have the horizon box and router set up downstairs and the standard HD box upstairs.

In both rooms I have chased the cables under carpet and wooden floors so it's important for me to be able to prepare.

    TIA

No, I even reused the coax from the splitter to the new box.
My VM cabling is only 2 years old though so not sure if that matters.

Presume you have tried adding it as device in the Harmony app then and no joy? If you can find a slightly older or similar Humax box you could try that model number, often they use the same or similar codes.

Worst case you could have the Harmony learn a few of the key remote buttons and use them.

Another thing you could try is see if the Virgin Media TV V6 box works (I was able to add it but obviously cant test).

Its been used in the UK for quite a while and is believed to be the same hardware just different software.

Tried adding it as the V6 and several Humax boxes too with no joy. It's possible the box doesn't have an IR receiver on it so the remote only uses IR for TV control

Good point. There probably is no IR control. I've the 360 box in a locker and no line of sight with the standard remote and I've no issues.

Meanwhile Day 2 of no TV and getting the run-around from VM with no solutions in sight. Contacting support is a nightmare.

Has this issue been fixed for you yet? I got two boxes on Thursday, and I can't get the mini box to connect. Getting an error code of CS1010. Have spent hours on Customer Support via WhatsApp, Twitter, and phone on Friday, Saturday and today and they still haven't resolved it!

What 4k content is available at the moment?

So the VM website is lying then if only 8 episodes of one programme is available in 4K. It states "Enjoy everthing you watch in glorious ultra HD"

Well technically they can argue they upscale everything to 4k, but yes they should at least look to get their own channels broadcasting in 4k

Maybe we will get (big maybe) a Virgin Media Sport 4K channel. Easy to get 4K stuff for Champions League and Europa.

But does the 360 box actually upscale all channels to 4K, even those low bitrate SD channels? I doubt it very much

    - No it does not.

I have the resolution on the Virgin 360 set to 4K and no matter what channel I am looking at my LG TV is saying that a 4k signal is being received even for a low res +1 channel on the 360 box. If I lower the 360 resolution to 1080p, then the TV reports a 1080p signal received. Just because it is upscaled does not make the SD signal any better quality, it still looks like a SD channel.

So my point stands, only 8 episodes of one particular programme is broadcast in 4K. Nothing else

Thank you! I hadn't turned it on, but I did when I saw your post, and it worked! I'll give you credit for your suggestion, because VM do not deserve any for the way they've dealt with the issue for the last four days. I was connected with an ethernet cable, so do you reckon that notwithstanding that, WPS has to be active?

    Cheers!

Now I just need them to fix the issue on the TV Anywhere app which is saying that I do not have any subscriptions!

I had that last week, but it just cleared itself a few days later.Tried everything before hand and was dreading having to ring them.

Dissappointed they dropped the radio channels, always nice to have, also the ability to record manually, which was on the horizon box.
Having a problem with the virgin TV anywhere app which works perfectly except for the ability to record, can set a reminder but just get a request failed notice for recording. Both box and app are on same network and set up properly.Anyone else have this problem,or have a solution, thanks.

Yes you start with a blank hard drive. Any recordings or series links will have to be setup again from scratch

  • Registered Users Posts: 101 ✭✭Shamrock 64

Anybody notice if you have a program on series link it records the repeats as well,so you have to let it record them and delete them later, the Horizon box allowed repeats on the planner to be deleted before recording, but the v360 will record them again. If you try to delete it will delete the series, bit disappointing considering you could clear them individually on the Horizon box and not lose the series.Otherwise huge improvement over the horizon box.
Tip: if you use the channel up and down buttons when using the guide you can skip page by page rather than having to go channel by channel.

"If you try to delete it will delete the series, bit disappointing considering you could clear them individually on the Horizon box and not lose the series."

Missing this big time. For example say I had Home and Away set for every day just in case I didn't get home if I did get home before show started I would just go and delete that day's set recording and series link would continue.

I don't think it should be recording repeats. Did you delete say Episode 1 and then it recorded the repeat or is it still recording repeats even when the episode is on your box in Saved?

Yes,if I record and look at an episode on series link, then delete it,it will record the repeat episode. There is no option to delete individual episodes coming up you know you've seen.It will delete the entire series from the planner.A backwards step from the Horizon box which as you say can delete individual episodes coming up you know you've already seen.So you have to let it re-record episodes and then delete them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,764 ✭✭✭Delta2113

Don't delete episodes and your box should ignore the repeats. It's picking up the repeats because you are deleting the episode.

Hopefully they can have an update in a new software version so you can for example highlight a 'thrash can' beside just one episode in your planner.

Anyone change over from Sky Q? how are you finding the new V6 box?

My contract with sky is up next month, I already have virgin broadband so I might change over and give this new box a go.

Open to correction here but I don't think the new box is available to new customers yet.

He has virgin broadband so would not be a new customer. However would this be considered an upgrade? He would have to make sure he gets a Virgin Tv 360 box and not a Horizon box sent out.

All in all a big leap forward from Horizon. The remote automatically paired with my Samsung for power & volume but the navigation arrows still don’t work for the smart part of the TV....does anyone know if it’s possible to achieve a more comprehensive pairing?

No you won't get anymore than power and volume.

  • Registered Users Posts: 219 ✭✭kitsy13

Mine was delivered last Tuesday and with work stuff etc I didn't set it up till Friday evening, have been waiting years for it to become available..Am very impressed with it so far, ya don't need any new cabling, just lift the old horizon out, connect the coax to the back and the old hdmi aswell if you wish..the only new thing I used outta the box was the new power cable..ya pair it to your white virgin hub and its set up 10 to 15 minutes later

If your remote batteries are running low you get a message in top right hand corner. Don't know how scientific it is.

Sky have had this for years. Great to hear it's so good but it's only matching sky Q which has been around a few years now.
