Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    That's 80% in hospital. Numbers , numbers , numbers.

Yes - the hse rep said on the news today that most cases can be treated at home(assuming they least severe I’d imagine) that’s what he said, check it out on rte news now/player.

Are they putting everyone who tests positive into hospital now - yes it would seem.

    Pure ignorant viewpoint

So you think an a&e nurse should be considered more knowledgeable than a who scientist. I’ve stopped watching his videos as he admits he gets things wrong and shouts into the camera at us. If that’s your preferred source of information then you are welcome to it.

There's a chance this will become endemic and circulate regularly around the world like seasonal flu or common cold.

    That's very likely.

No but there's bets going around so far. I'm going for an extra 25
Usually end of shift we'll get the new numbers unless its surpressed.

I heard the fool Ivan Yates on Newstalk this evening positing a number of 28 thousand. What an irresponsible thing to say on public radio.
That type of false trope is unconscionable.

Probably a bit on the low side. It was 20,000 if we could get a handle on it early but our overlords have completely ****ed things up.

Asking retired healthcare workers to come back to help when they are the most at risk age group...? Did they think that one through ?

he Czech Republic is ordering all nationals returning to the country from Italy to subject themselves to 14 days quarantine, with a fine of up to 3m Czech crowns (£102,000) for anyone who refuses to obey.

According to guidance posted online by the ministry:

With immediate effect all Czech citizens returning from Italy after 7 March 2020 must without delay notify their GP of the fact by telephone or other means without personal contact.

Is that as much about isolation/keeping an eye on them as medical treatment. Be surprised if that entire Clare family needed hospital care for instance

Dr Colin Henry, HSE clinical officer on the RTE News - advises people to move 2 metres away if another person sneezes or coughs when beside them

So the question is - how fast would you need to move to get 2 metres away before you are plastered with snot or phlegm? - given the speed of sneezing is estimated at about 150 kilometers per hour or more -

Answers on a postcard please - addressed to Dr Colin Henry, HSE Head Office

All the smaller towns are starting to cancel theirs.

Nobody will go even if they dont cancel.

Yes of course, but for how long can’t that be sustained and what’s the actual plan for after that point.

RTE News, on radio at least, also saying 'as the world approaches 100,000 cases'.

A quick google would tell you it currently stands at 101,387 cases!

Yeah. What do you think the dots mean before and after the word 'soon' mean? I wonder if you are deliberately misunderstanding me. This is the second time in 30 minutes.

I don't take boards personal so relax.

I am not having a personal pop at you.

I am having a pop are your point of we will have a vaccine soon.

The correct response from you should be either here is a study a vaccine is on the way CinemaGuy and so on.

I don't have any personal issue with you but I really don't think we are getting a vaccine anytime soon.

If somebody as a pop at a point you make and you think they are wrong offer more information.:)
