Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dr Colin Henry, HSE clinical officer on the RTE News - advises people to move 2 metres away if another person sneezes or coughs when beside them

So the question is - how fast would you need to move to get 2 metres away before you are plastered with snot or phlegm? - given the spread of sneezing is estimated at about 150 kilometers per hour or more -

Answers on a postcard please - addressed to Dr Colin Henry, HSE Head Office

My smoker's cough is going to make it awful easy to get a seat on the bus

NO ONE knows exactly what the future will bring.

The people here who are trying to downplay the dangers this epidemic are in fact claiming to be able to predict the future.

The World Health Organization and the world's expert Epidemiologists and Virologists also do not know exactly what the future will bring... BUT they are making really well educated guesses based on the mathematical modeling and their unrivaled experience of previous viral epidemics.

Given a choice between the opinions of the scientific community and the post truth, anti-scientific, ravings of that orange lunatic in the White House, I know who I will believe.

Enough of the “it will be gone soon, ’miraculously’ “ , “the warm weather will kill it” , “it’s just like the flu” or trying to minimize the expected death rate.

Please consult the WHO mythbusters page before posting any more of this Trumpian anti scientific horsesh*t

Just got on the 46A bus and the Chinese driver has s face mask and surgical gloves on. Found that white odd. I can imagine a lot of people not liking such a thing knowing the face that the only effective time to use a mask is when you suspect you're infected..

RTE News, on radio at least, also saying 'as the world approaches 100,000 cases'.

A quick google would tell you it currently stands at 101,387 cases!

Ok, but if a bright red breaking news is to be believed its 4th case.

5 new in country press conference on now!

God what are we all going to do when this blows over in a few weeks, and there will be no need for the covid thread... Well those of us still alive anyway...

God one. The initial hype will blow over but everyone will still be contracting it left right and centre.

We will just have to adapt.

Probably getting it from HSE who were also reporting numbers that were several hours out of date at last nights briefing

Yes - the hse rep said on the news today that most cases can be treated at home(assuming they least severe I’d imagine) that’s what he said, check it out on rte news now/player.

Are they putting everyone who tests positive into hospital now - yes it would seem.

    Could be. I don't know.

This will defo be a supply side problem though.

How many people have it? -> limiting factor how many tests do we have?
How many people are in hospital? -> How many beds do we have?
How many people in ICU? -> How many ICU beds do we have?
How many people will die? -> whatever is left over.

Up to 8 metres for a sneeze and 6 metres for a cough.

But standing in crowd of 4999 people is OK... as long as no one coughs !

    What rubbish
