He need only Interact with one person.

But how do you think he gets there..? By being beamed in?! Does he eat lunch on his own? No friends or family?!

Some people just can't accept reality.

The hysteria was that there would be loads infected.

From what I’ve heard of the case, it Is unlikely anyone else is infected.

Is that the article with numbers?
It was edited 26min ago. Did it say something else before?
It had said substantial numbers expected tonight.

I’m watching all this happen from afar in California. Over here people are really freaked. You’d swear WW3 was about to kick off. One good thing has happened though. Retailer started price gauging hand sanitisers etc. A rule was passed quite rapidly to ban price gauging of certain products and there is a method to report retailers who do it in place.

While this is a nasty flu some of the scaremongering and coverage is crazy, creating a bigger issue and sense of hysteria.

Suggestions of banning flights from northern Italy are just ridiculous given this is the EU. Free movement of people just means people will reroute which would only serve to potentially make things worse.

The whole focus on the need for proper personal hygiene is highlighting how poor personal hygiene many people have.

This is not a nasty flu. It's not a flu full stop.

Have been following these threads since the beginning and have posted a few times. It’s bloody addictive, but for my own mental health I’m going to have to step out. There are just too many posters engaged in disaster porn.

I’m not taking this flippantly. I’m going to follow all guidelines laid out by the HSE. I’m going to wash my hands more than I think I should and touch my face only when necessary. I’m going to try and convince my friends and family to do the same.

    Hope you all stay safe!

Try touching your face with your elbow after

I wonder is that person try to sneeze into the outside of their elbow. The image of that has given me quite a laugh.

If we’re a few weeks behind Italy as many believe, anyone know what it’s like over there right now? I mean we’ve got the numbers and they look grim, but what is the day to day like? People staying at home or going to work, businesses open or operating, etc? Obviously different regions are different depending on intensity of outbreak

I wrote this earlier. Having read it back, I should've been clearer that I have no idea if she was right about just how extensive it is. She was scared and paranoid of course. Who isn't?

My girlfriend is from Trento, Northern Italy, but has also lived in a couple of other towns in Lombardy

One such town is Romano about an hours drive from Milan. We were talking to her best friend from the town yesterday evening. It's like a ghost town. Shops, bars and restaurants shut. A lot of people are visibly sick, including her parents, her boyfriend and many within her wider group of friends. They don't know for sure if it's Coronavirus and they won't be tested unless they get really, really sick. They don't meet the criteria she says.

Her feeling was that Romano was probably going to be locked down as there was clearly some sort of outbreak.
They're all living in a deeply boring kind of terror.

Some schools have been shut. A friend of hers has to go to work but the only person who can mind her kid is her mother, who is in the high risk bracket. These are the kinds of things they're grappling with over there - do I risk the health and possibly life of my mother, or do I lose my job?

Average age of deaths in italy is 81. With 2 or more pre existing conditions. So ye they died. Not because of covid 19 alone that so many people seem to think is the case.

Sneeze into your elbow. Then hold your child's head in the crook of your arm. It's ok because small children aren't badly affected.

Where are the reports of a death coming from. Can we stop repeating it if it's unconfirmed rumour.

It's not very helpful. I am aware that i just repeated it.

    Are there reports of deaths?

Are they? If so many people are saying this it should be easy for you to cite examples...

Would they still be alive if they hadn't encountered covid-19?

From what I've heard in north. Not hardest hit but confimed cases in town, region.

    WFH where possible.
Zero public gatherings. i.e cafe , discoteca,

Those who need to be in a place of work taking what would be considered here extreme precaution.
There was food shortages when people panicked. Seems to be ok now.
No soap, hand sanitizer, masks etc.

Mentality simliar to here. But most won't venture near a bar.

From various reports I've seen today, experts think there will be an eight week spike in cases but then numbers will start to fall quickly.

It's not going to end up like a horrible pandemic disaster movie where 2.5m Irish people have the virus.

Heard from a friend that many nursing homes in Cork, Clare and Limerick are refusing to accept patients back from CUH and UHL (despite them being residents and medically discharged) as they're afraid it could be brought back into the homes from the hospital.

You are sitting on your couch on a Friday night watching a grown man teach you how to wash your phucking hands.

Congratulations license payers, this is what you get when you mess with us.

I haven't seen that one, but I presume Brendan Gleeson is in it.
